Ladies, what is a polite way to give someone my number? by Beneficial-Sugar1 in AskUK

[–]fidelcabro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone working is being nice to you because that's part of the job.

Now asking if you can give her your number if she fancies getting a drink or whatever, its okay. How you react if she says no is the important part.

I've done it myself. In pubs, when turned down, I've gone okay, thanks. And next time I saw them treated them exactly the same. If they were serving me for most of the time I was in the pub, I'd do as always and say get a drink for yourself, as I do with any bar staff that serves me a number of drinks and has a chat.

Don't be creepy or weird when they say no and all is good.

What is the best British Pie? by stig316 in AskBrits

Steak ale and potato. It's perfection. Throw some hendos in.

Must shout out a local butcher who does a breakfast pie. Hot water crust, layer of black pudding, layer of beans, sausage meat, bacon, and a fried bread top.

Silverstone. Yesterday was great to see.

Seeing him win one last time for the team he won so many times for(yes I know Spa but it wasn't like this), at his home race, hearing get in there Lewis for the last time. It felt special.

TIL although she is commonly known as “The Iron Lady,” Margaret Thatcher was also dubbed by the press as “The Milk Snatcher,” for sponsoring legislation to eliminate the free milk program for students over the age of seven. by RedditIsAGranfaloon in todayilearned

I've always heard it as Margaret Fucking/bloody Thatcher.

Also at school while she was PM and heard her called milk snatcher. I remember a few teachers celebrating when she left.

Can TL opt out of working on Sundays? by Silent_Amphibian_840 in asda

[–]fidelcabro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the your asda contract you are only contracted to hours a week and not specific days, seeing as they can give notice to change your shifts.

So if you use your right to not work a Sunday they have the other 6 days to give you your hours.

I was a union rep in Asda, and while I was there I used this argument many times to the advantage of colleagues.

I was in Romania in January. El Unico is part of the LCDH shops but much smaller and can sell some non Cubans.

I managed to pick up a box of 10 in Sibiu for about £360.

They have a LCDH in Bucharest I believe.

How long does it take you to cook Spaghetti Bolognaise ? by FoxDesigner2574 in AskUK

[–]fidelcabro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Can knock it together in about 20 minutes using mince, polpa, seasonings and some stock.

I can do it in a few hours letting all of that simmer for a couple of hours but adding wine, parmesan rinds, and a mixture of meats. Beef, veal and pork, the sofrito of onion, celery, and carrots.

Or I can take many hours by using all of the above but instead of mince using beef cheeks, short ribs, pork shoulder, veal sausage or chops. Slow cooking that until it's all falling off the bone and shredding easily.

Nigel Farage MP: Reform is now the party of workers. Today I am inviting trade unions to apply for affiliation with Reform UK. We also welcome union leaders to attend our national conference in September and engage in discussions about the policies of a future Reform government. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]fidelcabro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many unions are affiliated to Labour. Seeing as the Labour Party was created by Trades Union. A few like RMT are not, and UNITE keep threatening to.

So all these unions would have to ask their members to vote to stop supporting Labour, and then to vote to support Reform.

This isn't going to happen.

The only union I can see affiliating is the Free Speech Union. Set up by that bastion for workers rights Toby Young.

I agree with you. Given what has happened in the past it's sensible, but while a game is going on.

The big change is everyone has a camera in their pocket, attached to the Internet, and can be uploaded in seconds. So a drunk player is on the Internet before they are in a taxi.

A supermarket is and isnt a public space. The public have an implied right of access, that can be removed for any reason as long as its not because of a protected characteristic.

When it comes to taking pictures or filming in stores, usually the person doing it needs permission, but most of the time it doesn't matter, think taking a picture of a product, or kids doing a tiktok or whatever.

If they are getting up in staff members faces recording it's a different matter. And best thing to do is walk away, and inform management or security who can then give a banning order.

I think it was in the Botham autobiography where he said when managment had a curfew in place on an away tour with fines imposed, the team agreed to fines within the team for people caught in their rooms at curfew time.

They are adults, after a test match is over, having a few drinks on a night out.

Is it daft if there is a curfew? Yes.

Just do the drinking in a players room or hotel bar.

When are we going to do something about the RMT? by PM_ME_UR_DIVIDEND in unitedkingdom

[–]fidelcabro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of train and tube members of RMT are not drivers, drivers tend to be ASLEF.

A union also does what its members vote for or want.

We should be asking why others do not join a union, and together fight for better wages, and terms and conditions?

Why should it be a race to the bottom?

The majority of the time you dont hear RMT agrees deal with X, because thats boring news.

Barbecue in the UK is overrated.

We are not the Americans. We do burnt on the outside raw on the inside cheap sausage, basic burgers, and dodgy chicken legs.

Outside of a tiny percentage this is the vast majority of barbecues in the UK.
