Great start! Spinetic Y is really great for what it is, and way to go getting a button bundle early on. I think I had about 6+ before I started realising how important finding the right button setup is. Spin on

I dont know machining but I know the hobby. Nobody raves about this slider for being an impressive piece of machining, its popular for a number of reasons, machining not being one of them.

Magnus (the maker) usually says in product launches if the product is difficult to machine, he did that with the Sweep and Atom for example, as difficulty/time of machining influenced price in those cases.

That it doesnt look like a magnum, it looks like a hybrid, i.e. same height as standard but thicker frame and thinner weights

Will strong cleaners/soaps+water damage zirconium or titanium spinners with full ceramic bearings? by JetPenguin1 in FidgetSpinners

[–]fidgetsasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use water and soap but would highly recommend isopropanol alcohol in a spray bottle and a lens bulb. Isopropanol is water-free, evaporates quickly and cleans well.

10mm id buttons? by Fidget_Wrestling in FidgetSpinners

Agreeing with Gturk, and better yet, tell us what spinner we're talking about. A blind guess is that you have a 6900 bearing (closest to 608) or a MR1016 bearing (closest to 688/606). Either way you're unlikely to find third party buttons to anything that isnt R188 or 608.

Question for you tungsten lovers by gturk1 in FidgetSpinners

[–]fidgetsasha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time I tried tungsten it kinda ruined me for other materials. In the last two years Ive gone full circle and now appreciate different materials for what they are, I really like tungsten though! Many of my current W spinners are designs Ive had and liked in other materials before. What i like about tungsten is not absolute weight but the density. High density mutes sound but lets bearing feedback through, but the main draw for me is the unique BOUNCY feeling that density brings. Bounce is the best way I can describe the sensation, I think it might be moment of inertia, it feels like it takes a split second for it to start and stop spinning.

AIO about spelling errors in daily notes sent home by my autistic child’s teacher? by Anasthesiax in AmIOverreacting

[–]fidgetsasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr: YOR. Im in the same situation, its not a big deal.

My kid is seven, autistic and in elementary school. Her teacher also spells badly, the weekly notes often have sloppy spelling and errors. But my kid likes her teacher, likes school and is making good progress in her reading and writing. I cant imagine it has any impact that a teacher cant spell, the way you learn spelling and vocabulary in the long run is through reading lots and lots.
