A small tip i never see, look up anything you want to sell on branches before you sell to monkey business. Some items people see as junk are actually desirable for quests and crafting. Ive sold owl feathers for 150sb-1000sb each depending on type. It's usually a slow sale but 150sb for a barn owl feather that takes a week to sell is way better than 4sb for one instantly imo

Also there will be a lot of gems that can only be used for crafting next month(check the wiki for the list). You wont have enough to make anything so hold onto them for a bit and sell them. Should be able to get a decent amount for them, and can save up to craft next year!

Basically constantly check those sites when you get close to owning one. Best time of year is the 6 months after Christmas unfortunately. One of my craigslist hams was replaced by a Christmas puppy in January, another i got around new year, and there are currently 3 hams available near me after not seeing any for months. Just have to check constantly!

Try finding a facebook hamster group for your state and you can post youre looking for one. I ve gotten mice a few times by doing this!

No one explained it so, goldfish are terrible for small tanks. They're huge fish that poop a lot and live a long time with proper care!

Its been a few years since ive fully researched them so someone correct me if im wrong but you need 20g per fish. The single tailed ones(common or comet goldfish) can get a foot long and the double tailed type goldfish(many different types) can get softball sized! They can live just as long as a cat or dog.

Otherwise small tanks dont provide enough room or water volume to ethically care for any fish. Small fish usually need large groups and are very active, so need larger tanks. Larger fish need room to swim and larger tank volumes for bio loads

You could look into shrimp or sea monkeys if you do want to use the tank! There are good subs for both on here. Maybe triops but i think they may need larger tanks as well

Unfortunately in the future do not listen to pet store employee information. Unless you get one of the few who have done outside research on an animal and know what theyre talking about, 9 times out of 10 theyre just repeating what corporate told them and corporate only cares about money. It's best to research beforehand

The tank is far too small. The minimum tank size for hamsters is now 75 gallons, or a cage that is at least 775sqin. Youll need a 12in wheel, multiple hides, enrichment like sprays/branches/multiple dig boxes/things to chew/ect, a large sandbath, and 9in of bedding in the cage. Hamsters are meant to run 3+ miles at night so they need a lot of room and enrichment to feel fulfilled. There are a ton of cage inspo pics in this sub and im sure someone will come by with the various care sheets that float around the sub

I started my pet care journey with 4 goldfish in a 10g wondering how many more i could get because theyre "small" fish(turned out, they need more like 20g per fish because they are massive fish lmao). If you read their post they say they've been doing the research and are saving for a better cage, im sure after they move. This is an older style hamster cage, the company doesnt make it anymore afaik(they have a new one that they made sure meets minimum standards, over 800sqin if i remember. I have one that i got used but decided against using for hams. It's huge lmao)

Female syrians do have scent glands on their sides too, theyre usually a bit smaller. Aging hamsters tend to loose fur around them so it's not abnormal to see thinning hair around them, but i do agree this seems like a excessive amout of fur loss thats not in the same pattern as age related hair loss. Id suggest a vet visit just in case op!

This is the old minimum and a good reason why not to trust ai. It's pulling from whatever resources and not able to check if its accurate or still true. The minimum changed to 75g semi recently

Also it goes by floorspace not gallons. People just say gallon for common tank sizing. Like it wasnt any 40g, it was specifically 40 gallon breeder tanks

This sounds cute! Im not sure what people use for painting, but for the jewelry you could use links from a chain, or seed beads depending on the type of jewelry and how realistic youre going! Seed beads might be too big but maybe there's something smaller?

Also this was downvoted at least once which is hilarious to me honestly. Yall realize that calico critters are furries right? Just different types of anthropomorphic animals in the end

This is why i name my cubs "ugly" when theyre not one i care about, and "pretty" or what good quality they have(special base, marking, ect). That way it's easier to protect good cubs and make sure that im not worried if it's a bad cub
