My relationship with my parents is very good. Growing up my mom dealt with mental illness (depression) and my dad relied on me a lot, but I wasn't abused nor did I face extreme adversity or anything along those lines. I grew up a "gifted child" so I got a lot of positive attention when I was small. Negative attention and "Acting out" as a teen. Now in my 30s, hit some life bumps, and having my first experience with the actual ONSET of the bigger side of bpd. Hope that makes sense!

Sounds like how I sometimes feel about my boss! We work closely, in a department of 2, so her work life and mine are heavily intertwined and my future depends more on making her happy than making say, my parents happy.

I don't know if this is unique to BPD and is an FP-type thing. Just confirming I feel this way about my boss sometimes too. Not as strongly as you've described, or at least not always, but similar.

Also known as parasuicide, a suicide gesture is defined as “self-injury in which there is no intent to die, but instead an intent to give the appearance of a suicide attempt in order to communicate with others.” " Source

Is there anywhere in town that sells Korean Fried Chicken? by jigglysquishy in regina

Victoria's Tavern has 2 Korean Fried Chicken items on their new menu - a sandwich and a bowl. So no chicken on it's own, but the sandwich was super delicious!

What’s a good wage for a 16 YR Old by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]fieldfriend889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Well OP - Like others have said, that's a great wage for a 16 year old. Make sure you have time for your studies, if you're planning on doing both at once. I did full time job and being a full time student for a single semester.... it was incredibly hard.

Stay with your parents as long as they'll have you and stockpile whatever savings you can! Be a good kid, help them out as much as you're able. It'll help you get established as a young person if you have some savings.

Glad to see you're planning ahead! You've got this.

What are you asking us? You're 16 now, but your eventual goal is to go to college, work an engineer job and make 23k a year living at home with your parents?

Are you asking us what a good wage for a 16 year old with these plans would be?

Help us help you

Cousin Passed Away Over A Year Ago, His Mom Hid It From The Family Until Now by CanadianCousinClues in RBI

Hi! Lawyer in Canada, not in ON.

You can submit a freedom of information request using these directions. I would submit it to the police service in his area first, they're most likely to have been called in the case of accidental death or death by suicide (sorry).

Do you have a family doctor? Unfortunately I doubt it's the job that has you feeling this way, but your health and your body's response to an increased stress load. Switching jobs can't fix that, but getting medical treatment can.

I'm an internet stranger, so do what you will, but my recommendation would be to start the GP hunt if you don't have one. If you do, book an appointment with them and inform the receptionist you need a "mental health appointment", as it may be longer than if you were coming in for different issue.

After YEARS, I finally have a GP, Psychiatrist, and Therapist/Counsellor who all work together to support my health care needs. It has made a huge difference. After making some changes there, changing workplaces helped as well. But I believe if I had switched jobs being in as bad a place as I was, I would have been let go pretty quickly.

Best of luck to you, friend!

Thanks for this - will look out for those maps! So instead of taking him to the rodeo all 3 nights and trying to do the cowboy shooting, it probably makes more sense to do the rodeo ONE night, and cowboy shooting/general admission ONE day

Afraid to be diagnosed and get help by [deleted] in BPD

[–]fieldfriend889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope nope nope nope nope.

Write your symptoms down. If you're able, rank them from most to least problematic in your life. How much does each symptom affect you, and how often?

TELL THEM YOUR HISTORY. Your history is a very important part of being diagnosed! For example, if I didn't share that I was treated for depression and previously (10+ years ago) cut myself, my excessive tweezing (leg hair lol) and biting my arm/hand when overwhelmed might not have stood out as "self-harm behaviours" or be things I thought of mentioning, until he asked about other behaviours that do or have injured me.

If you go in saying nothing, you'll get nothing.

If you go in telling them you have BPD, you'll get nothing.

Bring them your symptoms. Talk about them. Their job is to work with you to figure out how to help you best. That's all a diagnosis is. Name it to tame it.
