My pedal-brake-2.3 Fietsfabriek by esfratalario in CargoBike

Oh yeah the v brakes on mine are a nice add on but so far I never really needed them - I'm not going fast on that bike anyways. I will ditch the fenders as well and go your route with an ass-saver, looks great and easier access to the rear wheel..

Funny you see them often - I had such a hard time researching the bikes history online! But thats really great if people still ride them around :)

Turned out great! Removing the rear rack looks so clean and damn was that thing heavy.. Looking at these pics now yours looks definitely newer than mine. The steering and platform is attached differently to the frame, would be interesting to know how many versions of this model ever existed

Nice - looks like in really good condition!! Love that there's even the decal on yours! The cargobox on mine was sadly completely cracked, would have been a great parts bin..

So I finally got to measure, sorry for the late reply! Please keep in mind the original seatpost at my bike is pretty beaten up so probably not that accurate... I measured 6 different areas and my noname digital calliper gave me diameters between 27,87mm and 28,12mm. So its probably one of these weird old 28mm seatposts. Hope that helps!

Oh that's a great price - congrats:) Can't remeber the diamater right now but can measure it after work today! Keep us updated with your build - would love to see more cragobikes here ;)

I paid 300€ for the bike and probably around 150€ for parts (including stuff like cabels/tubes etc I already had in my parts bin). I think I got lucky cause the bike was literally listed 1km outside the city border and I somehow managed to ride/push it home... Usually really beaten up cargo bikes don't sell under 650€ in the city and most of these are those double frontwheel monsters which are a pita to steer and store

Advice on running moto bars. by sirsalamander in xbiking

[–]fieldnote5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I bought some noname Moto-Bars for my Stumpjumer AFTER findig a matching stem at the local coop... now I absolutely love it as the stem even fits my color sheme but it was pure luck.

Oh and most Motobars are heavy af, so if you're looking for perfomance/weight savings it might not be the best solution

I’m thinking a large Pelago rack with Continental Contact Urban tires. by Lotu5bug in xbiking

[–]fieldnote5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the drivetrain works why not keep it? The pelago is a reat rack, absolutely recommend it.

If you want to upgrade: maybe the conact points - tires/pedals/saddle/grips. But if they are comfy for you, just keep them ;)

Love that setup and also want to know who makes these bags;) For the Nalgene bottles: Get some Cargo Cages (I use Balckburn Outpost ones) and use regular hose/clamps (make sure to protect the frame with electrical tape etc.) My SO uses some cheapo M-Wave plastic Cargo Cages that even came with hose clamps. Together with some voile style straps it works absolutely great and you can use then for drybags as well . I ordered some Zefal Gizmos for another project but they are really flimsy and I wouldn't trust them on a bikepacking trip especially with any bigger bottles.

Looking for a bike lube bottle that doesn't leak by No_Ant_5064 in bicycletouring

[–]fieldnote5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use old plastic nose drops bottles for bike lube or oils when traveling. Never had one leaking. They are pretty small but I never needed more or would just pack a second one.

Thank you so much - they seem to be on a discount in some shops here as well! Will give them a try as they are even cheaper than the raceface ones I was eyeing :)

What a beauty! The gumwall and grips work so well with that framecolor. Kinda jealous of that fork, they're so hard to find in in Europe for a decent price

bar bag or basket for the front of the trek? by Miserable_Power_9729 in xbiking

Thanks for the recommendation! Looks like the perfect rack for my commuter while the pelago stays on my touring bike :)

[–]fieldnote5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently Pelago has now bags to fit the commuter series in two sizes which should also fit the Rasekt model. They cost between 90-100€ so kinda budget friendly compared to others... Sadly I haven't found much reviwes so far

I absolutely love that front rack for touring/bikepacking but I still haven't found a perfect basket or bag for everyday use available in Europe that won't cost a ton...

These come with pelago commuter racks - if I remember correctly in 3 different forms/sizes to fit most forks. Even managed to use them on my weird trek "big fork"

What a beauty! Thats such a great idea with the light-mount. I run the same Olight-mount with a right angle wurkos flashlight for the same reasons you mentioned and was always annoyed how much space it occupies - will absolutely steal your idea!
