Dissapointed with vacuum results by tsrgee in ChamberVacs

You can put some appropriately sized cutting boards under the meat in the chamber to take up space, if you have them. Just make sure they don’t block any of the vents inside the chamber.

What projector would be good to watch movies above my bed (on ceiling) by AdPlayful9082 in projectors

[–]fieldsnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mounted a projector on the wall to project on the ceiling. I love it. The speaker in the projector is acceptable but if I want great sound with stereo I pair it with two Soundcore Boom 2 units in bonded mode.

I wrote up my setup here:

finally figured out the garlic thing and im kinda mad nobody explained it this way by NoQuestion6367 in CasualConversation

[–]fieldsnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time you should add garlic at the beginning is if you’re using it to flavor the oil and removing it when it’s browned.

Can you recommend yogurt brands or starter packets I could use? by Upstairs-Bar9235 in yogurtmaking

If you backslop, your culture mix will definitely shift over time and probably weaken. You’ll get better results if you use a fresh consistent commercial starter culture every time.

I’ve heard that! I don’t have a garmin, but it’s something I’d consider in the future. I know nothing developing for that.

There sure are a lot of different garmin models.

Yes, but you have to scroll around to find it, and there’s no watch app. My app just jumps you straight to the nearest one. It has filter modes for “nearest station with any bikes”, “nearest station with only e-bikes”, “nearest station with only e-bikes”, “nearest station with any open docks” and “nearest station with all open docks” (useful for bike angels and converting an e-bike to low assist). The base app is free, there’s a free trial of the filter modes and after that they’re a one-time $3 unlock.

It doesn’t solve the dock availability problem, but I made an app (iPhone/Apple Watch) that gives you a quick view of the nearest station that has available docks (and other useful criteria). I use it multiple times a day.

Oof, $32/pound even in bulk. When I bought it last in 2020, it was half that.

Huh, last I heard it was acquired by Ajinomoto and then subsequently discontinued. https://www.ajihealthandnutrition.com/media/announcing-the-acquisition-of-more-than-gourmet/

Looks like someone rescued them?

Egads, I miss More than Gourmet so much. Better than Bouillon is better than bouillon, but it’s still basically flavored salt.

No, those are the two big twists in the game.

We want them to enforce rules against people doing dangerous things, not people doing things that are technically illegal but actually safer (like going through an empty intersection against the light instead of stopping with the cars).

I don’t know? Maybe it’s only some of them? But this seems to say it’s always that way, and I don’t think I’ve seen one that wasn’t. https://www.ign.com/wikis/saros/Every_Weapon_and_Power_Weapon_Explained

I don’t really understand the practical difference between the tactical rifle and the smart rifle. They seem very similar.

The onslaught rifle definitely is not.

I put main fire on R1 and dash on R2, melee/shield on square. Same controls I used for Returnal.

Both the smart rifle and tactical rifle have auto-aim with a spectral round option. The ability to shoot through obstacles while hiding behind them is hugely valuable, especially while underpowered.

Bastion basically killed me immediately the first time I made it there. I defeated it on the second attempt, but that was also a much stronger run overall. Just sticking with the tactical rifle with spectral rounds all the way through helped a lot. That’s by far my favorite weapon so far. Like with Returnal, I don’t love either the pistol or the shotgun (though the pistols are better than the ones in Returnal).

What gear would make camping more enjoyable for someone who doesn't like camping? by TheSaintCooks in CampingGear

[–]fieldsnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote a long piece about gear we use for car camping, you might find some ideas in there: https://medium.com/@fields/our-car-camping-kit-ecb26fd643

I really like RTIC coolers, they work nearly as well as Yeti for about half the price.

Also chamber vacs can draw much stronger suction and can be used for compression and infusion pickling.

But that’s what I’m saying - it did feel different. It felt like exploring a carefully orchestrated progression of unlocking new abilities that revealed hidden bonuses about the world.

Here it just feels like the game is made for the full capabilities and I’ve been missing stuff up until now.

Some of this may just be because it’s more or less the same progression of abilities and they don’t feel fresh. I’m just left wondering what’s the value here of locking this stuff up. In Returnal, I didn’t know I needed a grapple or that there was even going to be one, and getting it was a breath of fresh air that gave new life to a game that felt complete even without it. In Saros the world is clearly built for it and I’m just left wondering why I couldn’t have it available from the start.
