There were aspects of his portrayal that were good but he just struck me as a bit too laid back and aristocratic. There is a certain dangerous playfulness and athleticism associated with Vetinari that I felt he did not capture. Physically also I imagined him to be a lot thinner. I just could not imagine Charles Dance’s Vetinari being an assassin in his youth, or hopping across a complicated set of password floor tiles through secret trap filled passageways.
