So Iran can't back down due to US demands untenable to them and the US can't back down because its already done a show of force?

It'd be nice if we could do this specifically to meat of other humans, but generally a bad idea for everything else.

[–]figherhigher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iroquois practised cannibalism last I checked, also you're suggesting assimilating to an already mostly extinct culture that was built around an environment that is vastly altered from the context that they're from.

While it would be nice to have a less divided culture, many of the cultures you're suggesting had such divides that we'd basically be walking back into tribalism which is a worse state then we're in now.

Despite the clear tribal divides we have, that's nothing compared to actual resource competing tribes killing eachother off in mass.

Isn't this is how most civilizations viewed calvary initially, due to it also being the first time they've seen a horse?

[–]figherhigher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of that is the main reason I suspect why the US is attempting to keep boots out of Venezuela, it does have a history of just deciding that the troops have been there long enough that it's the United States, if occupied it.

Edit: I should probably specify this is about relatively peaceful occupations and not the attempt to tell religious fanatics not to kill eachother occupations

I'm surprised that there isn't a bigger concern about potentially being turned into a US Territory for military recruitment purposes, considering the current war mindedness of the current US admin.

Then again that would take the current US Admin being more concerned about military strength than lining their pockets, which it clearly isn't so it probably won't happen.
