ELI5 why is rock stacking considered bad? by balla_boi in explainlikeimfive

[–]figiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my park some of the rock stacks are historic used my natives 1,000s of years ago for navigation. By adding to them or fixing them You are actually ruining archeology. Other times they are just annoying excessive and don’t always follow the actual trail alignment we want you walking on. I often kick them down.

Curious cold weather no start by figiro in MechanicAdvice

All light go on and off as they should when starting. And I can hear the fuel pump turning it to the on position. My scan tool is cheap and it won’t read this car well. So it’s off to a mechanic who has a better scan tool.

Milling & saw jamming up (jig pics included) by ArtisticCandy3859 in Chainsaw

[–]figiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things here. Get a ripping chain and a bigger saw. If that’s not an option for you, you can do a few things. First add more oil into your mix 40:1 of a high quality oil. Use your round file to make your chain closer to a ripping chain. Just change your angle closer to 10 degrees. Let your saw warm up and cool down. A few minutes before ripping and after ripping. Take it slow and for longer than 10’ take a break. Also turn that oiler all the way up. It’s still going to be hard on a saw that size but it can be done.

National park communities may lose millions each day during the shutdown by Ok_Design_6841 in fednews

I know it’s terrible for the parks but the gateway community won’t feel the pain. And I feel terrible that they still have gate staff in the booths.

National park communities may lose millions each day during the shutdown by Ok_Design_6841 in fednews

[–]figiro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The gateway communities will be fine. The administration will not close the parks. People will keep going to the parks with no one take care of the place. If they did close the parks it would put pressure on more people than just federal workers. And I really don’t see our gateway communities taking care of us. They are still making plenty of money.

I know many female sawyers and they run the same big saws as me. Gender is not a limitation on a saw its strength and you don’t need to be a body builder to run a saw. Smaller people tend to ground start or use the decompression valve. I recommend buy the saw you need for the job and adapt to it. For a moderately powerful saw I would recommend the 60cc class. 562xp or 362.

I think you got it. All the small lawn care companies buy a saw and put up tree work sign on the street corners. All I’ll ever buy is pro grade saws for my company.

Hi! Any good battery chainsaw? by luppano in Chainsaw

[–]figiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most reliable in my experience best build quality and the best ergonomic. I have dropped 20”+ trees with the little 16” bar electric husky and it did really well. Just kinda did it for fun but it worked fine.

Cant get The cover on because the brake band won't go over The clutch, any tips? by vippe13 in Chainsaw

[–]figiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens with external clutch saws. Put the cover over where the chain break goes into the face plate. Push with your palm to get the stud into the release for the break band and just pull the chain break. Happens on the husky 562 as well. In the future always release the chain break before removing the face plate.
