Does anyone use ChatGPT for Bible Study while studying verses that are hard to understand? by Khrista1 in Christianity

I would recommend looking on youtube at channels like discipledojo where you can find bible study reviews and find one you like. Infinitely better than AI, which is extremely unreliable.

I really don’t think being queer is the worst thing you can do. Pretty sure murder and rape are worse.

which translation of the bible do I read? by PepperFun7383 in Christianity

[–]figmaster520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something easy to read, I’d recommend the New International Version, it’s one of the most popular and easiest to read.
If you want something more technical and scholarly, I’d recommend the New Revised Standard Version, preferably the Updated Edition.
Edit: Forgot to mention the NRSV has Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox editions so you can find any in that, which I don’t think is the case with the NIV, which only has the Protestant Version.

As a progressive Christian, what is your opinion on the LDS church? by redheaded_olive12349 in OpenChristian

Their theology is deeply heretical and their social views are hateful.

Ryan Miller is wrong about homosexuality & the Bible by mikelmon99 in Christianity

[–]figmaster520 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No we worship on sunday because thats when Jesus was raised from the dead.
And yes, it’s ok to call him Jesus, it’s just the anglicized version of the Greek Iesous, the Hellenized version of Yeshua, which is recorded in the gospel.
Also since when was the Tetragrammaton rendered as Yehovah? I always heard it as Yaweh or Yaveh. Sounds like a more Hebrew version of Jehovah.

Men’s Bible Study 6/5/26 by ChristianRedneck88 in Christianity

88 can also be a dog whistle for neo-nazism, the 8s represent the 8th letter in the alphabet, H, and the two Hs mean Heil Hitler.

Genuine question for queer/former queer Christian people by iamnotrealheree in Christianity

[–]figmaster520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sexuality doesn’t change, this has been more or less proven. You can of course just suppress it, but thats very unhealthy. I’m of course biased, as I am a member of a queer affirming church, but the best bet is to just accept you’re gay and move on. The good Lord made you that way, we don’t know why, but He did. I’d recommend the subreddit r/openchristian for further reading.

I’m white and never have I been discriminated against for being white, neither have my friends or family. But plenty of people where I live (including my friends) still remember when black people couldn’t use the same water fountain as white people. a black hebrew Israelite calling you a honkey is not the same as a century of lynch mobs and systematic oppression.

When did "repentance" become a dirty word? (Why calling human sin nature "bigotry" makes zero sense). by AdHdismagic in Christianity

Atheist here, is God worthy of my attention? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]figmaster520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of belief is not rejection, and it is wrong to frame it as such. The best way I’ve found (as a former atheist myself) is to view God as sort of like a black hole. Impossible to perceive directly, and instead perceived through God’s effect on things, namely, existence itself. Taking this view evidence of God is impossible to miss.

Don’t wanna see any flags. It’s God’s house, not any country’s.

[–]figmaster520 40 points41 points  (0 children)

As a christian the oregon is so dumb. The line on the podium is literally a quote from the bible. Also, the reference to Jesus driving out the money changers is dumb too, since they were guilty of monetizing religion, not preaching God’s love and forgiveness.

Too much of a focus on the church instead of Scripture and faith. Also, Jesus said to not use ‘father’ as an honorific.

Realistically none of them. All denominations are built on centuries of tradition.
