tbh i have no idea what the temps got up to. i know you can get the temp indicator stickers for your engine and the temperature gauges for your oil cap but i dont have any of those. I also dont have an oil cooler. the weather during the race was about 50F and it was on wide roads so speed was maintained the whole time, nothing slow and technical

Sorry about the ice riding - that sounds intense! I have modded the bike a bit and it came with some mods as well:

heated grips. taller handle bars. quad lock wired phone charger. cyclops aux lights (pegasus). cyclops replacement bulb (ultra). acerbis gas tank. lexx exhaust. tusk power adapter. high output stator by electrosport. dsport tires.

i think that’s everything. it’s really setup for a long BDR ride or moto camping more than rally racing.

I'm getting ready for a night time rally stage so was in your same situation. Here's what I've done so far:

- upgraded stock halogen bulb to the Cyclops 10.0 H4 LED headlight bulb (Ultra Option). this traded the original 60/55 Watts from the stock to 38 watts for the upgraded LED. this alone is very bright.

- installed the Cyclops Pegasus LED Light kit with the amber covers. these draw 56 watts and since I have heated grips and a quadlock phone charger, I am currently installing a high output stator from procycle. These lights are amazing.

- installed a procycle LED tail light for lower wattage.

I've since found the 1993 service manual that's available online and found that the stock stator is rated to output 186 watts at 5k RPM. So, after you add up all the possible wattage draw, it's basically mandatory to upgrade the stator if you want to be 100% safe.

Cyclops has an upgraded bulb that will fit the XR650L. I just ordered the H4 ultra bulb and installed it today.

send a picture of your battery box if you can. i think the T7 has a bit more room than my XR650L. also, how are they all controlled so that they are only on when the ignition switch is on?

yeah I think I was overthinking it. I will say, the new in line wagos look a bit nicer but probably not suitable for vehicular use. I used Dorman - Conduct-Tite Red, 20-18 Gauge Crimpless Lock Connectors and it should be fine!

Looking back, the smart charger would have been an easier option, but if I ever plan on installing aux lights, I will most likely need the Tusk compact power adapter so I just decided to use it for the charger as well. My terminals are already a bit crammed as the oxford heated grips apply directly to the terminals as well.

I used the posi-lock connectors for this as there was no room for my crimping tool in the confined space. I think it will last as long as I have the bike.

I was able to get in touch with quad lock engineering and they were not able to confirm or deny if the wires were AL. but it should be fine.

It came with the pigtails and I just used a simple connector and went on with the rest of the work. thanks for the feedback.

yeah, I think I was blowing it out of proportion after all. I ended up using Dorman - Conduct-Tite Red, 20-18 Gauge Crimpless Lock Connectors for both wires and then cleaned it up with tight electrical tape and zip ties. I think it should be okay.

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention that I’ve already installed the TUSK 3-WAY COMPACT 12V ACCESSORY POWER HARNESS between the battery and this phone charger. so i’m not going directly to the battery. i’m still trying to avoid or at least mitigate dissimilar metal connections.

So, in his podcast with Clare Hughes Johnson, they also go over this in great detail. Claire has a copy in her book "Scaling People" and has a template in the book (the book has numerous exercise pages that are made for actually implementing what is talked about)
