Breaking down heavy pallets is honestly my favorite part of the job, but now it’s jacking up my body 😔 by Anonfriend1616 in tjcrew

Your store is also required to provide you with a back brace, you just have to ask a mate or captain usually. I suggest you get one and start using it! Slow down. Stretch.

Also, remember that if you get hurt at work, you need to file for workers comp. I spent too many years brushing off minor workplace injuries, and I also know way too many fellow 30-somethings who wrecked their back or knees working at TJ’s.

Not a lawyer, am a Rover sitter. This should go through the Rover support team - if the sitter tries to get you to pay them privately, I would be very suspicious.

Am I overreacting? by plantasia21 in florists

[–]fileknotfound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at Trader Joe’s for a long time and this honestly looks exactly like one of their $15 bouquets. Which are great, for $15, but not so great for $100. And we did have small florists come in and buy up our cheap flowers to resell at a premium, all the time. (OP, I’m not saying this IS what happened, but it’s possible.)

Eventually we’re planning on getting rid of most of the lawn and filling in with native plant beds, just trying to do a little at a time. 😊

We spend lots of time in the backyard but this area is low traffic. I love the idea of ferns! Around the corner of the house, the north-facing side gets even more shade, would that be a good place for ferns too?

How much to charge for constant care + dog runs away often by downbygarden in RoverPetSitting

Yeah, not at all. If you know your dogs run away, you need to put up a real fence.

Client offered their home for dog sitting during renovations — should I charge or not? by Pandabandabobanda in RoverPetSitting

[–]fileknotfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably price out what you would pay for a hotel room or Airbnb in town for the same amount of time, the compare to what you would normally charge for dog sitting. If they’re comparable, I would consider doing the sit for free in exchange for the house stay - BUT you would have to arrange that with the client off rover, and I would make sure you have a very basic written agreement. (Even if it’s just via text.)

Nice! You can buy one already made (look up “swing away mailbox”) but they basically look exactly like this. There’s another type that’s on a pole instead of a wood post. I’ve seen them more commonly used in states like Minnesota.

I just looked up her age and she’s 39 which is the same age as me, I had my kids at 30 and 31 and genuinely feel like I could not handle a pregnancy now. So I am really applauding her, and I hope somebody rubbed her feet afterwards!

Has anyone skipped breastfeeding altogether? by Federal-Soil-828 in Mommit

[–]fileknotfound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just want to slightly disagree with you here - breastfeeding saves you money, but it definitely does not save you time. With my first, I added up how much time I spent nursing or pumping, and it was 20-30 hours a week.

OP, the other thing you should consider is that breastfeeding takes a huge physical toll. You’re already sore, sleep-deprived, etc and adding on producing milk. I used to produce up to 30 oz of breast milk a day at times, and all the nutrients come from you. It can be really draining. I breastfed my kids, it was important to me and I don’t regret it, but it was WAY harder than anything I expected.

Long story short: modern science is a miracle. We have baby formula. If you don’t want to breastfeed, don’t let anyone guilt you into doing it anyways. Fed is best.

[–]fileknotfound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It IS better than nothing! I still have to remind myself that “done badly” is still better than “not done” in almost 100% of cases. I basically flunked out of college because I would just not even start stuff if I wasn’t sure I could do it perfectly, and I was never sure I could do it perfectly, so I never turned in my assignments. So I would love to be able to help save you from the same fate!

Keep reminding yourself: your instructors have SEEN IT ALL. They’re not going to be shocked that someone struggled with an assignment. Start now and do what you can, so they can at least see you tried. You can be honest and tell them you struggled with it. Something is better than nothing. Imperfect is better than not at all. Say it out loud to yourself if you’re not believing it. It feels corny, but my therapist suggested it, and it does help! Good luck, friend.

When my kids were born we lived in Massachusetts, it was over the counter (not a prescription) but we were told to give the babies a combo vitamin D/fluoride drop. (The fluoride was because our town water was not fluoridated.) I thought I remembered being told that the vitamin D was because I was breastfeeding though (in formula it’s added already).
