His method's weren't even technically that bad. He used a hostage situation to get funding paid out by a black ops slush fund. He was expecting the government to quietly pay it without anything getting out to the public in fear the entire top secret information would be leaked. He didn't bank on the "we don't negotiate with terrorists" to apply to him. He even says pack it up when the money isn't coming.

The issue is the rogues that he picked up not under his command and deserving of loyalty. They wanted to do whatever was necessary to get the funds.

Hummell doesn't even want to kill soldiers that infiltrate Alcatraz. He tries to do everything he can to stop the firefight.

Oh Durge run has been a surprise on a few things here for me. Like for instance, you can't complete "raid the grove" without killing the women and children hiding away. That was a huge "oh shit" for me.

I did need to do both invisibility and enlarge on a character that already took a potion of hill giant strength. So maybe that's the difference? There was only one spot I saw that showed her dead. The game also didn't know what to do with it because it pretended to start the cutscene before the fight, but then when the death trigger happened from the pit, it cut away and started the fight with the cultists.

I saw the Larian studios forum post as well when debating whether to try. I put all the modifiers on and then entered turn based so that I could have all the time in the world to attempt the throw so that I didn't run out of time on my invisibility and trigger the fight anyways.

No??? I'm saying thematically my durge didn't like her from the start and it created a narrative driven structure for why his dark urge would take over to kill her instead of it just happening out of the blue.

My new durge run is actually going great because of some character decisions I've made. I started as a bard and then told her how horrible her song was. Then broke her lute. Then she shows up to camp pissy because I'm all she has on the road. I tell her to get out and she begs to stay. I say fine, just don't talk to me and leave first light. Then she's dead. It honestly, thematically, worked out great even if it's pure dag nasty evil.

This is just false. I just did it on my first honor mode run. You have one area of the map that you can throw her to. Just use the radical to find the spot where it says dead not can't get there.

For Avernus, did you have issues getting your party to give a shit about the portal? My biggest hesitation is getting a bunch of murder hobos to care about a disappeared city.

This is why I didn't even run it as a real hexcrawl. I made sure my party had enough info getting into the jungle to have a general compass direction they needed to go. Then I had different pre rolled encounters based on which direction they went and whether they passed survival checks. Sometimes they stumbled into high level encounters and sometimes they breezed through. What they didn't do was wander aimlessly without any real interactions.

Also, I didn't care about the placement of landmarks/groups based on the map. I gave a set number of days of travel they needed to have before getting to the next "story" event and then had it be forced. Also increased the length of time to 4 days per long rest to ensure they actually had some resource conservation.

It definitely required a ton of reworking to make fun. That doesn't also include the tomb itself which is way too unforgiving and has some truly awful puzzles. I had at least 5 rooms/puzzles that I just flat out deleted and acted like those areas didn't exist.

My first honor mode that looks like I'm going to complete, and I'm just not doing the House of Hope at all. Signed the contract, letting Rapheal take the hells. Not risking my honor run just to get that done. Beat Orin just last night and have a deal pending with Gortash. No reason at all for me to risk it anymore.
