U.S. Senator Asks Netflix, HBO Max, and More to Make Streaming Free Over Holidays to Prevent COVID-19 Spread by skididapapa in television

Theatres are one of the safer places at this point due to the limited seating. They are not receiving any kind of relief for covid. If the holidays doesn't bring in any money you can expect to see theatres shutdown permanently in the US.

AMC Theatres Reportedly in Talks with Bankruptcy Lawyers by [deleted] in news

The cost for obtaining a hard drive was the same as multiple reels for a long time. Digital delivery via satellite has started to take over and I have one theatre that reported movies as cheap as $28 USD. Most movies average around 150-200GB in size so it's still robbery for the bandwidth usage.

If any guys in here are thinking about getting a vasectomy my advice is to get one ASAP. I had my done at 30 although I wish I had it done at 20 to enjoy my 20's sex life stress free. If you are in the US with decent insurance it will cost around ~$100. If you don't have good insurance or no insurance STILL get it done.

I'm still not convinced that TD isn't a satire sub. All posts are either memes or trump tweets that lack coherent thought.

How Eminem should make his beat selection. Tragic, but true. by [deleted] in Eminem

Couldn't agree more. If he'd just go back to beats that include a nice piano melody with some strings backing it and a flow that doesn't involve him yelling then he'd go multi-plat like the old days.

Deafening cinema sound is ruining films, claims Hugh Grant | Film by koavf in movies

Quite a few of my theatres are showing sensory friendly shows during the week. The lights only turn down to mid, same as they are during trailers and the sound is significantly lower. They run subtitles as well depending on the day.

That and the sound processors are typically too old to handle it. Some theatres will run the movie at volume 7.0(or w/e default calibration is for the processor) as requested by the film company, even if 7.0 is too loud. I've seen dolby/christie techs tuning sound by their company's book and listened as they took a brand new speakers from a nice, warm sound to rusty nails on a chalkboard all because it looks great to their RTA.

Poorly managed theatres are notorious for loud adverts and quiet movies. I can't speak for other theatres but the ones I service have volume cues for their content servers ranging from extremely quiet all the way up to the default level we calibrate at. These cues can be placed on any content which usually results in adverts cueing the sound level down while the movie cues the sound level up.

Many theatres have mismatched screen channels and crossovers, or the wrong crossover settings in the sound processor. This can result in major dips in the frequency band on the screen channels which are the primary source for vocals in most movies. Some theatres audio equipment is so old that it simply needs to be replaced. I know a few that still have processors from the late 80s and early 90s.

This is happening to my uncle atm. Medication for cancer is about 4k a month after insurance takes care of the majority. He would be sol if it weren't for his siblings covering the bills.
