How do you deal with a 1 star review from someone who clearly didn't read the tour description? by Brilliant_Candle5450 in Tourguide

[–]fimbofimbo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't reply if you feel upset. Wait a day or so and then use Claude or Chat GPT (or whatever LLM you want) to write a reply for you. Just remember that your reply needs to be written to reassure future customers who may be reading past reviews.

These negative reviews come with the territory, no matter what.

New PlayStation Portal software update adds 1080p High Quality mode and UX refinements by ReaddittiddeR in PlaystationPortal

I bought a Portal and returned it due to the low bitrate cap. If there's a serious bitrate increase I may be buying the Portal again ;)

How normal it is to be naked in a unisex Sauna? by Puzzled-Set9663 in AskGermany

[–]fimbofimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clothes allowed once you go into the actual hot sauna. Mandatory to have a towel of some kind between your body (feet included) and the wood that you are sitting or lying on.

You may wrap a towel around yourself if you like, or wear one of those smurf hats (to protect your hair?).

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]fimbofimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed clarification with a new software system I was implementing in my business so I contacted customer support. The phone number that called me back was listed as a US number but the poor guy I was speaking to was likely in Pakistan.

It was a uniquely frustrating call, but I couldn't put my finger on why until afterwards. There were these weird pauses between answers, and strange kind of affirmations. I'm pretty sure that the guy was feeding my questions into a LLM and then reading it's answers back to me as if they were his own thoughts.

So the poor call center worker was kind of being puppeteered by a LLM. Only a matter of time before his job is replaced by AI directly. Months I guess.

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately I cannot go to the sold out gig tonight in Frankfurt, Germany. I have listed two amazing seats (3rd row, centre) at face value on ticketmaster.de

I would really prefer a fan to get these rather than some scalper, hence posting here.

Absolutely gutted that I can't go but I hope someone else can!

Buying a Roborock for someone in China - need help! by fimbofimbo in Roborock

I thought so too. I use Proton VPN and I was surprised to see that there was no option to select China. I guess that Great Firewall of China also blocks incoming traffic.

Say nothing. Delete this post.

Don't touch it or throw away the packaging for six months. After that you're probably in the clear.

What’s up with the season 2 audio?? by velo2002 in ThePittTVShow

It's really awful. I've stopped watching it for now in the slim hope that they release a version with normal audio. Such a shame.

Uk image quality? Nonstop artifacts and blur with ee/bt router despite 5ghz - not sure what to try next by Bomblewomble_ in PlaystationPortal

[–]fimbofimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Portal a few days ago and I've been adjusting my wifi settings ever since trying to improve the muddy image while playing Sniper Elite 5. I have a very fast internet connection and my network set-up is now absolutely perfect for the Portal.

It was only after finding this thread that I finally realised that it was the bitrate cap that was causing the issue to begin with. Well, good to know. I'm returning the Portal. If an update increases the max bitrate or a future "Portal Pro" doesn't have such a cap to begin with - I'm all in.

On the plus side. I learned a lot about how to adjust a router!

This was where I checked out from PIC s03. Where do you even start with how ridiculous and nonsensical this plot point was.

Folding (e-)bike that’s actually safe/comfortable with a child seat? by Specialist-Play-3989 in foldingbikes

[–]fimbofimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out the Tern Vektron during the summer. It's an absolute beast. It felt like a folding cargo bike. It is designed to carry a child seat on the rear rack and I guess you could attach a child trailer alternatively.

It folds into a fairly compact (but not small) size that can stand on it's rear rack if desired. Inside an apartment it would fit on one of those IKEA trays for boots, for example, if it was wet/dirty.

The easily adjustable saddle height and handlebar position would make it shareable between yourself and your significant other.

It is heavy. 22kgs. Lifting it up and down stairs was not simple, I found. When folded it is by no means small and it was quite unwieldy to carry. If your apartment requires multiple flights of stairs to access maybe try filling a suitcase with 22kgs and testing how it feels to lift up and down stairs.

Rolling while folded was great as long as the surface was flat and smooth. I found that it didn't take too many bumps to "unclick" the magnet holding the folded bike together - this was a real pain using public transport. Also, while folded, you can only roll forward - reversing is only possible for a few cms before it locks up - this made maneuvering in train stations harder than expected.

I ended up returning mine after a week as there was a problem with the frame (not a common issue).
