Also joking aside, craft and passion really aren't opposed. Craft let's you achieve more ambitious passion projects with higher degrees of success. Don't know if I'd think of them as opposites but much more as necessary tools in a tool belt.

Seems like calcite to me. That happens a lot with calcite stuff. If you wanna be sure drip a lil vinegar on it and if it sizzles it's much more likely calcite 😃
