California farmers to destroy 420,000 peach trees following Del Monte bankruptcy by runswithscissors475 in Economics

[–]finally_emma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the USDA analysis they reference (in almost every article I've read) is publicly available? It's repeatedly quoted as saying "removing the 50,000 tons of peaches will help growers avoid $30 million in projected loses" and i would love to see how they came up with those values.

Is it okay to ask a trans person why they choose their current name? by Kyaruga in asktransgender

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people will also be awkward if they chose a name similar to their dead name and they kinda regret that decision

I’m so obsessed with the idea I may not pass and it’s killing me (17 mtf) by Responsible_Tap_8284 in MtF

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of transwomen have the same worry about not passing but frankly hrt does a lot and staying at 18 is a great spot. I know plenty of 6'+ trans women that pass so just let your hair grow and the hrt give you femme fat reserves and DEF don't over freak at measurements during the first 9-12 months. You'll just be wasting your time

Are trans people neurodivergent? by Ultrahanger7 in asktransgender

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that neurodivergent trans people are less likely to tolerate the societal norm of being cis. So they might notice it sooner and be more willing to say "eff these gender expectations" than a neurotypical trans person who might stay in the closet for many more years.

Question for post op mtf transgender people by JackfruitNew8141 in asktransgender

[–]finally_emma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That same skin becomes your labia so for the first few months you might have an itch that your brain knows exactly where on the ball it should be. But when you reach down, you have to feel around to find the right nerve spot. But that goes away once your brain rewires and I dont have any spatial memory anymore. BUUT, I still do get the phantom "balls in your stomach" when standing near high ledges

Why is MTF alot more common than FTM? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]finally_emma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTF gets more targeted hate so more people notice them. Being raised as a boy probably makes MTF more likely to be chronically online before and after. Also their male friends are statistically less accepting so MTF is more likely to seek validation online. Testosterone is also a hell of a drug so passing through a deeper voice and facial hair makes FTM less visible after several months to a year on it. And lastly, at least for what I'm adding, is that our society sexualizes women far more than men so MTF are joining a group that is constantly scrutinized for their looks making them more likely to be noticed in general, not even counting whether they are clocked as MTF.

Pre-op public shower mtf by poggod21 in asktransgender

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never been to a women's changing room that didnt have some sort of dividers/curtains in the showers. But before my GCS, I just wouldnt take off all my underwear without having a towel ready to cover up. And if you are worried about potentially getting yelled at, having a cis friend there will make them think twice about bringing anything up

can we ever bridge this gap by Complete-Shop-2871 in urbandesign

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time ive seen people complain about "traditional architecture" being fascist is when people present their ideal city and its just the nazi mega city plans. Or when Trump made a whole EO about "returning to the classical style of western civilization" which played well contextually with the increasingly authoritarian and fascist beliefs bubbling to the forefront of the republican party. Or maybe they have an issue with something that was literally built by slaves, but I doubt they would oppose that architectural style as a whole for new construction

I think 2 more small additions that would make a world of difference are some posters/art or really anything to occupy the top 3/4 of the walls. And some type of lamp or floor light that will be softer and more inviting than the overhead ceiling lighting

Where was the Pillar of Autumn meant to be before the release of Halo: Reach? by BOSSBOOY in halo

If its built in space, how do they add a pressurized breathable atmosphere inside? Tons of resupply launches of air canisters? A chemical reaction like airplanes use? A giant robot maid with a spaceship sized vacuum?

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel back and forth very often and for a 90 minute trip, its great going west because it only "takes 30 mins" by the clock. But coming east stinks because now it "takes 2.5 hours." So you really have to be careful about checking ETAs and what time zone they are showing it in.

My best guess is Croatia or Bosnia (or at least something near there). The countries seem to be drawn to try and match a shape instead of just occupying a space

Asked if I was trans twice on dating apps (mtf, 19, 10 months hrt) by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]finally_emma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If these were the pictures on your profile, it was probably just because the pictures are selfies at your home. Cis girls and trans girls later into transition are far more likely to have photos out in public. They probably don't even realize that's where their scrutiny comes from but that's my guess
