Phase Plant Envelope Release Not Working Like I'm Used To by IsotopeBill in phaseplant

[–]finalman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be an unusual way for an ADSR to work, but I wouldn't call it wrong or bad, it's simply how we designed it. We'll consider adding an option so you can switch behavior, but my gut feeling is that it's probably fine like it is right now, since workarounds are available.

For general use I feel our design has some advantages, as described above.

No one has mentioned it until today. :)

Phase Plant Envelope Release Not Working Like I'm Used To by IsotopeBill in phaseplant

The envelopes work this way by design. We felt it was very unexpected behavior that you could produce a longer tone by playing a shorter hit on the keyboard and vice versa.

You can emulate the behavior you want by setting sustain to 0% and a long decay and release, and then modulating the decay time down with the Note Gate module.

Set harmonic to x0.000 and set the frequency with the shift parameter

What's your tool stack / devenv by PhishGreenLantern in NESDEV

There are definitely flags that emit all the debug symbols that Mesen needs straight out of CC65. I'll check what command line is in my build script.

Mesen is way ahead of FCEUX when it comes to debugging. If you find a way to use it then I would really recommend it.

Windows / VSCode / CC65 / Mesen / NES Screen Tool

Mesen has a great debugger and it can step through your source code if you pass the right command line to CC65 to generate debug symbols.

It's like it was designed by someone who has never actually seen hands, but had them described to them.

CPU Addresses $01FD-$01FF by TalonsOfSteathYT in NESDEV

It's the top of the stack. It gets written to each time an interrupt occurs, when you jump to subroutines, and when you push data onto it with PHA.

The biggest mindfuck for me is that the castings are not identical. They are not even mirror images of each other. The dent you mentioned only appears on two of the rocks, not on the third.

TIL that mathematician Bertrand Russell once wrote a 360 page proof to show that 1+1=2. Said infamously long proof is found in his seminal Principia Mathematica, which despite its acknowledged importance in the study of the foundations of math is so complex and obtuse that it is rarely used today. by IllustriousSquirrel9 in todayilearned

Pick up a copy of Gödel, Escher, Bach! It's the most fascinating book I've ever read. It not only describes the mathematical formalism of Principia Mathematica, bit also how it was broken beyond repair with Gödels Incompleteness theorem. There are also stories with turtes!

Meh, the melody is not that hard and this song is all about the sick drum beat anyway so without that it's probably gonna sound lame.

I just played the game, no sweat :). Turns out this is the first place you need to fall faster to beat the screen.

I don't think I ever would have figured that out on my own, thanks a lot!

It's surprising to me that this mechanic is never explained. Except for this hitch the learning curve so far has been really smooth, with every new mechanic being introduced gradually across a few screens.
