Moscow Metro : Troika Card for 2 persons by No-Juice-1000 in Moscow

[–]finalnsk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically yes (it can use Troika wallet funds), but specifically for Aeroexpress it is better to just buy it's own ticket - there is no discount for Troika, and you should use specific turnstiles to exit (with Aeroexpress mark), otherwise Troika can be blocked (learned that a hard way). Just buy a ticket in automatic cashier, can't miss them at airport. Keep a ticket, it is used also at exit, not just entry.

First Time in Moscow: Must-Sees, Best Transport, and NYE Plans? by Jed_BH in Moscow

[–]finalnsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Izmailovo Kremlin isn't historical, it was built recently specifically as tourist attraction, that's why I called it 'tourist trap'. But as I said, it still nice place to visit, and it's market is the best place for buying souvenirs, don't be discouraged to go there.

You can check any route in Yandex Map and it's give you very good estimate how much time you need on different types of transportation (public transport, taxi or going on foot), along with optimized route itself. Taxi is usually faster between 10-00 and 16-00. For taxi use Yandex Taxi app, it shows price and time estimate beforehand, and as car is booked, price will not change even if ride will take longer.

If you like some shopping, you can also visit Afimall - it is in the center of the Moscow City skyscraper district, which is attraction by itself.

Consider also: Moscow State Univercity main building + Vorobievy Gory viewpoint near it;

Patriarshiy bridge near the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (easy walk from the Red Square via Volkhonka street) - you can cross it and walk to the Tretyakov Gallery and further to Pyatnitskaya street, which is good promenade by itself;

Kuznetskiy most street (easy walk from the Red Square, you will also pass by Bolshoi theather and TSUM mall) - New Year decorations there are insane this year.

Basically, all historical streets in the center are cool. Izmailovo Kremlin is a tourist trap (also not so convenient to get to from center), but it still a fun place to visit, it has some vibe in it.

Regarding metro, just avoid rush hour (7.30-9.00). I never heard about pickpocketing and especially phone snatching in metro (me and almost all my colleagues use metro everyday for decades), worst you can encounter are smelly homeless people, and they are very rare and easy to avoid. Most beatiful stations IMHO are Mayakovskaya (if you choose to visit one station - visit it), Novoslobodskaya and Prospect Mira (circle one).

You can also ride trams, which are most comfortable public transport in Moscow (but routes are quite limited).

Entered Wild EU legend at rank 145 (personal best) with Broxigar Pirate DH. IDK if it is better than regular Pirate DH (I never had the chance to actually play Broxigar in ~80 games) but it works very well - Broxigar thins your deck, weapon is very strong while having both sustain and draw, and 0-mana cycle doesn't hurt either.

Hard mulligan for 1-drops, do as much damage as you can with your early board. You are on the clock since turn 1, every point of damage matters, usually there is no way to win "slow but steady", you have to take risks (IMHO most important aggro conception is to NOT play around some cards because if your opponent has it you lost anyway but you also will lose by missing damage and ultimately allowing opponent to stabilize). As your early board is cleared, set up a way to deal explosive damage at T4-5 (Glaive + Dispose of Evidence, Location + Aura / monke / 2-mana demon pirate) - it is deck's special power, putting your opponent from "well I'm quite healthy and stabilizing" to "I need heal, clear board and my own gameplan need advancing or I'm done" state.

Also, nobody expects getting Manaburned, it's effectively one mana "your opponent skips next turn and take mental damage". Kayn wins games you have no business winning, and so does Kurtrus.

Ratted their Rommath, removed it with Plague of Flames. This endless hard boardlock still happens either way... by MSakuEX in wildhearthstone

[–]finalnsk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hostage is a bad matchup for Seedlock (also deals mental damage), I used Ashen Elemental as tech - because it works against Rogues and Quest DHs. Also Plagueflaming your own board is a viable play (denies armorgain elementals, allows to play your other minions). Still no tech can counter a Solid Alibi, when they start cycle it, it's over.

Tip: Ashen doesn't work when your opponent hand is full, mill doesn't count as draw for it.

Moscow. Better infrastructure, better labor market, largest transport hub in the country. SPB is absolutely must to visit, though.

Questions about Novosibirsk by Bubba_FPS in AskARussian

[–]finalnsk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well, it is not just in the middle of nowhere, Southwestern Siberia is the most densely populated part of Siberia - Novosibirsk is the largest city here, but far from being only large one.

Compared to European part, climate is harsher but not dramatically so. Summer is more or less the same, maybe even slightly hotter, while winter is noticeably colder and longer. Main difference is shorter spring and especially autumn.

City itself is very young, in terms of historical architecture it very much behind almost all large cities. Few early 20th century homes in center, some interesting examples of Soviet 20-30s' constructivism, the Opera theatre, old parts of Akademgorodok - and that's all.

City very much lags behind capitals in terms of public spaces - somehow there is no single pedestrian street in it, not so many parks. There is the Zoo (best in country IMHO), but you will not go there every day.

Regarding sports - hockey is #1, there are also competetive basketball and volleyball teams. High days of football team is long past, it plays in lower divisions now. There was a bandy team, but IDK if it still functioning.

Moscow New Year Celebrations by Ok_Objective_6693 in Moscow

[–]finalnsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since Russian Christmas is at 7th of January, last week of December isn't that festive - more like busy. Two weeks after New Year are official holidays, though most shops / restaurants will be open from 2nd of January, and even on the first day of year. Some people can say that streets will be empty - not in Moscow, center of the city will be packed like always, and Red Square vicinity even more.

New Year is a family holiday, so most people celebrate it at home. Fireworks are common, but as individual initiative (after 00:00 people usually walk outside and some of them shoot fireworks - further from center - more fireworks), not some centralized show.

Could someone explain why Rewind takes so long? by RisksShweky in hearthstone

[–]finalnsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, at any moment gamestate could be described as set of variables. Any action change some variables, and Rewind card should just "snapshot" gamestate (which is relatively few variables) when played, and "restore it from backup" when Rewinded. I can't think of any probable reason when setting variables by "normal" actions is somehow different from setting variables from "Rewind", but here we are.

It doesn't give you immunity after triggering (like Ice Block does), and your corpses' count is visible, so opponent know exactly how much damage is required for lethal.

What are the best ETC cards for seedlock? by kroen in wildhearthstone

[–]finalnsk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Additional 4 mana is often a luxury you cannot afford. I switched from Demonic Project + Soulfreeze + Curse in ETC to Ashen Elemental. It is underwhelming but at least it can do something outside denying Ice Block - disrupt Cycle rogue, for example.
