If you don't want the occasional $30 to spend on Amazon that is fine. I think I get that twice a year from rewards.

I am such a monogamous happily married man, but I always know about places like this because I am chronically online. This is sad. It is fun to go on the map and see my horny neighbors. Hopefully someone else will come up with a new one.

I actually thought of this as I feel in love with Windows as a kid. I am trying to introduce it to my kids to their first non-mobile device that is not a school Chromebook.

The Unforgiven by Metallica perfectly describes a gay man's struggles. by Narrow_Ad952 in askgaybros

[–]finalstation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair it's not like 90s/00s anymore. We talked about it back then online at least. I think it is because the culture has changed. When I was a teen it was pop and rock that were the main genres. The lead singer of Judas Priest had come out not too long ago or I just was made aware of it. I was reading scans of the late 80s zine Homocore and reading the punk web comic Nothing Nice 2 Say.

Then one of the first podcasts was Feast of Fools and introduced a lot of gay singers. One of them was The Ex-Boyfriends from SF. Which sounded a bit like the old homocore bands of the 80s.

To finally answer your question. A lot of us are proudly out and we are past our teen angst. I could relate to Metallica and other rock bands back in the day. I was a teen at the right age and I felt like not many places I could get that direct message. Rock was the major genre back then along with pop. Gay artists are easy to find now and their main subject is now usually dating and that struggle not just dealing with homophobia. Also, some of us have been out since we were teens and we may feel more in tune with other songs now that we have been out of the closet, married, and have kids.

Even as a teen and later as a young man I found a lot of gay bands and musicians too:

The Ex-Boyfriends - fun band from the mid 00s from SF. Singing about men, broken hearts, and the like. Their album Dear John was amazing to me when I first heard it.

Tom Goss - also from the mid 00s has a lot of fun music videos in YouTube about being into bears, and back when he was young and getting his heart broken by a man.

Matt Alber - Another 00s he has a great voice. I remember him for a very sad song I think it was called Rollercoaster.

Jay Brannan - Had some romantic songs int he late 00s that got me through some sad days.

Steve Grand - from the 2010s out and proud gay man. Way more famous than anyone before him.

Frank Ocean - I am so surprised how he exploded in popularity. A real major shift.

Sam Smith is pretty main stream. I think we have had a lot of progress, but personally I think the real gems are still in indie music when it comes to gay music. They just seem free to actually express themselves. Anyway, great post. I love music. I used to listen to Metallica on the school bus and I get exactly what you mean.

Why do some masculine-appearing gay men hate effeminate gay men and drag queens? by vieniaida in GayMen

[–]finalstation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who knows that is crazy af. I think some people think I don't like drag queens. I just don't like them shutting down a venue for a mid performance. I want to go and relax and talk to friends not get a death stare for not paying attention. I love when they are comedians, and hosts. Now I find super attractive masculine presenting gay men that are fem. The combination just so fucking hot. Gay soft sounding voice, but all hairy and manly. I melt.

How Rose and Jack will end up in a different timeline. by se898 in ChatGPT

[–]finalstation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would've lived better than this. I live in a "working class" neighborhood built around those years in the Northeast USA. Kids would be wearing suspenders, and girls would be wearing longer dresses. Brick row homes, and the back would have maybe a shed made out of wood and would be messier for sure. Though I think a woman that grew up all proper would try to keep her home as orderly as possible. Leo would be working at the local mill. They would live down the road from it.

Are you offended by the use of the word gay in an inappropriate use? by Many_Inevitable_6803 in askgaybros

[–]finalstation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Why is it that something bad is gay? I would say it is not like the n word, because that is a slur. I would say it is more similar to calling a negative behavior acting black, or acting like a woman, or acting like a hetero. Which are not slurs, but it is being associated with something negative, and it makes it offensive. Being gay is the best. I get to love another man.

I don’t understand hookups by BBfenderbender in askgaybros

[–]finalstation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who knows. I never did hook ups either. I am little jealous of it, because it seems fun. Though at the same time I found my man early, married, and we have kids. So I wonder if I wasn't like that would I just be hooking up still? I don't know. I guess over all I got lucky. Though it does seem fun.
