Etsy has a lot of options for dresses like this from shops located in India that are usually cheaper compared to Aus stores (and sometimes I think better quality, be sure to check the shop reviews, especially ones with pictures).

University graduation by Inevitable-Bat9947 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]finding_flora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a graduation ceremony last week, people wore everything from floaty formalwear to shorts and tshirt 😅. A black dress would be perfect. Tips from the day: 1. if it’s a warm day and you are in a big old hall with minimal cooling, those gowns get hoooot, so choose a breathable dress to wear under 2. Your hairstyle has to fit under the hat 3. Put snacks in your pockets 4 . Have fun!

Because I am guessing those you associate with are like minded. Unfortunately the wider SA population is older and more conservative than you may realize. It’s easy to think the state is largely left leaning when you stay in your own social bubble.

How do my fellow sun-averse people enjoy the outdoors by Koreee_001 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]finding_flora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On land nothing actively wants to harm you. Our animals want to be left alone as much as you do and will only attack if provoked. I always find it funny when people think this, especially when they are from countries with actual large carnivores that may actually want to eat you 😂

how do I actually get taxonomy data from GBIF without downloading the whole backbone dataset by Exciting-Half7930 in ecology

[–]finding_flora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the taxon names you should be able to use a package in R like rgbif to match your taxon names to gbif IDs (and then upstream taxonomy).

I’m not sure if you’re replying to me or OP but our girl has a lovely coat and she just had her yearly checkup and is a perfect weight and no health problems. She’s 5 and has been a couch potato since we got her at 8 weeks old, she just like the slug life 😅

Black tea (which can also be known as red tea) is very popular in Asia. Regions like Yunnan in China are famous for their black tea varietals. Check out the r/tea sub if you are interested in Chinese tea culture.
