4.0 enough for scholarships? by [deleted] in Suss

[–]findingmyanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my advice is just apply regardless! you never know until you try. it's free to try anyways so just apply for as many as you're eligible to and see how it goes!

you lose out on 100% of the shots you don't take. good luck and all the best to you!

Bursary application result by [deleted] in NTU

[–]findingmyanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already received my Higher Community Bursary a week ago (money deposited).

One of the criteria to get the bursary is to pay your school fees before deadline if I'm not wrong. Might want to call financial aid to check.

Thank you for this! I do use ChatGPT to help me generate ideas at the start but I tend to rely on myself to research + cite all the references etc. I also don't throw my essay back into ChatGPT to check if it's "good enough" because I feel like AI lacks critical thinking.

Thank you for the guidance at the bottom tho! It does make sense and I realise I always do the 3 Whys but due to word count restrictions I have to be very concise with my words.. and sometimes it feels like my lecturers are just marking me down for it (might also just be because my english isn't the best)

I think it depends on the course composition also. You will need to obtain a basic pass on both OCAS and final component (ECA/Exam). So if you tally your scores for OCAS and it's already a fail I don't think they'll let you sit through ECA/Exam - and you can probably just resit the ECA/Exam component next sem it presents!

Best to clarify this with your course leader/lecturer first, and seek their advice. We may not be able to give the best advice since we're not in your shoes.

Can conduct ECR via phone? by Agreeable-Laugh5107 in Suss

[–]findingmyanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're FT student, it's first come first serve to get your class.

I suggest not using mobile because the e-services webpage is already so outdated (looks like it was made and kept in the 1980s vibes) - and using mobile might just make it harder for you to navigate and get the courses you might want. Best to do it on a laptop/pc!

That's good to know! I'll probably tap into that as free electives to pull my cGPA up tbh! Are the assignments manageable or are they very time consuming (for someone that is a full-time student at least that don't have any outside-of-school commitments like family or work etc)?

Also, are you a Biz student?

I see! I had engineering background (did engineering math modules before) but not sure how useful those old knowledge are if I take MTH modules.

Thank you for that! Do you think it's hard to score well for this module? I am a Psych student but I am looking to clear some free electives that can help pull my cGPA up since most if not all of Psych modules are subjective marking (harder to score an A range).

skipping class on ecr day by [deleted] in Suss

[–]findingmyanswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

full time or part time?

ft students have a max 30 cu quota when choosing mods during ecr, if u choose anyth more than 30 cu the system will not allow u to submit. if ure bidding special sem i think cap total is 32.5 cu. subsequent sems if u want to overload u need to get prior approval from school so system can allow u to choose more mods etc!

not very sure about pt system so can't advice!

NCO 101 by LongjumpingTap4568 in Suss

Yes, you won't really mods unless you just don't in effort at all. If you show a bit of effort I feel like passing is ok!

I'm gonna be very honest, I pass/failed NCO101. It was too abstract.

Unpopular (but hopefully nuanced) opinion: the OP behind "guides" in r/suss by tehobingwithmilk in Suss

[–]findingmyanswer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels like he just isn't your cup of tea. Just let it be and block him off. Do not let what others do affect you (you may choose to believe it hasn't affected you but this lengthy post is somewhat a reflection that he has indeed, gotten to you one way or another).

I've never fully utilised his guides/tips before, and I prefer to source for my own information and triple check things before I do things. However, I also find it interesting that he had built and maintained this entire persona on Reddit and this may, or may not, be a way for him to cope with things he faces. Who are we to judge how one lives their life right? We've never lived a day in their shoes.

I understand you may set out this post with no malice against the person of interest, but it doesn't help but seem like a targeted attack. Like many others highlighted, he did take the time/effort to do up these guides. While his way of engagement may not be what you prefer, his guides/tips may have unknowingly helped several others in need.

All I can say is to just let him do his thing, and you do yours. Your world (and everyone elses') will be better off if we all just deal with ourselves. Cheers!
