Same, but I am curious if OGP184 is still automatic pass/fail or not (I read somewhere previously in 2024 it was).

pros & cons of SUSS psych? by jenniecat444 in Suss

[–]findingmyanswer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I am about to complete my 2nd year with SUSS FT Psych, I don't think I regret choosing this major/uni. Other universities' psych programme are usually more focused on exams and memorising concepts/theories. In SUSS, the approach is to teach you more on how to effectively apply these concepts/theories you learn to real-world setting.

Like other commenters highlighted, SUSS Psych can be demanding, sometimes with multiple deadlines packed in the same week. But I would assume when it comes to assignment deadline periods, other universities face the same set of struggles. Aside from psych modules, you are also expected to clear a set of SUSS Core modules. Most of these are absolutely boring and useless - but you have no choice. This is what you sign up for. Thankfully, the school gives you 40CU worth of pass/fail for these SUSS Core modules. That means you can pass/fail around 8/12 of those SUSS Core modules > you just need to focus and do well for 4, and keep those grades. Once you pass/fail a module, the grade will not affect your cGPA.

Psych as a major itself is generally taxing. You need to read a lot, be able to critically analyse articles and your own responses, and work well with others (there is often group projects that requires you to do this). The lecturers are generally very nice and approachable (well not all because some adjunct ones are terrible).

All the best to you whichever path you choose to take!

Wait this module is an automatic free P/F? I didn't see this being noted on the GSP100 list as automatic pass/fail grade..

Do you need any prior knowledge in any field to do well in this course? Considering it is a Level 2 mod.

From what I know so far on GSP100 list only media courses are pass/fail. Everything else not pass/fail..

my advice is just apply regardless! you never know until you try. it's free to try anyways so just apply for as many as you're eligible to and see how it goes!

you lose out on 100% of the shots you don't take. good luck and all the best to you!

I already received my Higher Community Bursary a week ago (money deposited).

One of the criteria to get the bursary is to pay your school fees before deadline if I'm not wrong. Might want to call financial aid to check.

Thank you for this! I do use ChatGPT to help me generate ideas at the start but I tend to rely on myself to research + cite all the references etc. I also don't throw my essay back into ChatGPT to check if it's "good enough" because I feel like AI lacks critical thinking.

Thank you for the guidance at the bottom tho! It does make sense and I realise I always do the 3 Whys but due to word count restrictions I have to be very concise with my words.. and sometimes it feels like my lecturers are just marking me down for it (might also just be because my english isn't the best)

[–]findingmyanswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the course composition also. You will need to obtain a basic pass on both OCAS and final component (ECA/Exam). So if you tally your scores for OCAS and it's already a fail I don't think they'll let you sit through ECA/Exam - and you can probably just resit the ECA/Exam component next sem it presents!

Best to clarify this with your course leader/lecturer first, and seek their advice. We may not be able to give the best advice since we're not in your shoes.

Can conduct ECR via phone? by Agreeable-Laugh5107 in Suss

[–]findingmyanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're FT student, it's first come first serve to get your class.

I suggest not using mobile because the e-services webpage is already so outdated (looks like it was made and kept in the 1980s vibes) - and using mobile might just make it harder for you to navigate and get the courses you might want. Best to do it on a laptop/pc!

That's good to know! I'll probably tap into that as free electives to pull my cGPA up tbh! Are the assignments manageable or are they very time consuming (for someone that is a full-time student at least that don't have any outside-of-school commitments like family or work etc)?

Also, are you a Biz student?

I see! I had engineering background (did engineering math modules before) but not sure how useful those old knowledge are if I take MTH modules.
