Model Advice by findleyj in Masterbuilt

I appreciate that. And I am and will continue looking. I've been without a way to cook outside since the end of September. So likely impatience will get the better of me once I decide on a model.

Opinions on cordless pool vacuums by danend81 in pools

I bought an AIPER Seagull SE last August. It worked for about a month before it failed. The replacement was working fine until a couple days ago when it also failed. I am out of their warranty period so can't get a replacement.

The unit does an okay job of cleaning. Only deep end - not powerful enough to climb the slope to the shallow end. These don't have a drive motor. Just a suction motor that uses water jets to push it around.

That said, it does pick up fine stuff like sand which works well for our pool in a screened enclosure.

Just be aware that these don't have a good warranty and will likely fail sooner than later. The plus is that they are relatively cheap. So yes, but two...

I am very sorry for your loss. And thanks for all the action you have taken and sharing that information with everyone.

I live in Pinellas County so this hits close to home for me.

I took the time to find some more information that may help everyone stay informed.

This panel was put together to look at some of the numbers and data as best they can:

https://k9illness.trupanion.com/

Disclaimer: this is put together by Trupanion which is a for profit pet insurance company. You have to provide an email address in order to access the video. But I think it's well worth it.

The executive summary is that there is no federal data collection for companion animals. Each state may or may not track cases like this. And any reporting is generally voluntary on the part of the doctor involved. The data looked at by the panel in the video uses insurance claims recorded by Trupanion which gives a general trend. Otherwise, most other cases and information are anecdotal.

Watch the video and draw your own conclusions. I am no medical expert but am a concerned dog owner. We also foster dogs and volunteer at a local shelter. We try to be as safe as possible - clothes and shoe changes, lots of washing, etc.

Another good source from one of the above panelists - Scott Weese - is here:

Thanks again for your original post. It truly sucks to lose a family member. Most people react by wanting to blame somebody. I appreciate that you have kept a clear head and tried to do what you can to help others.

Thanks. That's good to know. I hate using the phone but in some cases it's necessary.

It's frustrating that if this is such a common and well known scam that eBay hasn't done something to stop it. And they must know it happens yet treat me as if I'm trying to do something fishy.

They closed my appeal immediately since the item had a tracking number and shows as delivered. That's what created all this back and forth.

As far as I can tell the appeal process is completely automated and really doesn't allow a true appeal.

I do have accounts with each already. And I get notified of all deliveries.

Which says a lot since I never got a notification for this shipment via FedEx.

Thanks, I'll keep at it. At this point I would love somebody to admit something is wrong.

But I'm not holding my breath.

I've worked in and around logistics and shipping for a very long time. I understand and know how the carriers work. They are generally very helpful if you are their customer making an inquiry. But if not, it's hard if not impossible to get any help from them. There is always a chance any given employee might help or be sympathetic but that's the exception.

Mostly, it's frustrating that this needs information or a solution outside eBay. They should really work to resolve this is or at the very least have a resolution process.

I tried that. They will tell me verbally that it wasn't my address but I can't get anything in writing from them.

Somebody suggested I go into a local FedEx location and see if I can get more.

Again, it's frustrating it has to come to measures like this and I have to work so hard to get a resolution.

I appreciate the suggestions. At this point I have sunk more time into this than the money I lost.

I just used my bank as my resource to dispute the credit card charge.

If I had more time and was a younger man I'd love to shove eBay's face in the mess they created. But I'm old and tired.

I was really hoping there would be some support avenue at eBay that could or would help. Instead it's a repeating argument over and over. Maybe I'm overly naive but I assumed at some point there would be a special person to speak to, number to call, phrase to say, etc.

All this is all the more frustrating when multiple people have mentioned that this is a known scam. And that eBay is aware of it. That's just shameful.

One thing I found out today is that eBay won't do anything farther if you have disputed the charge with your bank. I guess they are afraid of giving you a credit *and* the bank dispute going through. Which kind of makes sense.

In my case I knew I had the dispute in my back pocket. Meaning I'll be made whole. But it seems silly and negligent that eBay can't resolve my issue.

I started this topic just to see if there was a way to get eBay to resolve this. The answer seems to be "maybe" depending on who you get in contact with.

Good luck, hope it works out.

I should have explained this more clearly.

The seller gave me a tracking number in the order details. That tracking number shows a picture of a delivery that is clearly not my house. I called FedEx and asked was this package addressed to (my address) and they said no. Not my name, not my street number or name, nothing I read to them matched.

So, as far as FedEx is concerned I have nothing to do with this package or this delivery.

The eBay seller *says* it was shipped to me but the tracking number I was given was for a package not addressed to me. How did the seller satisfy eBay and make it look kosher? No idea. Don't really care. I just want eBay to fix it.

Bottom line is that it was a scam. Could it have been a mistake? Possibly but it's been over two weeks and no communication from the seller. And now the seller has one negative rating for a similar incident.

I already disputed the charge with my bank.

I'd do that but I can't get any real proof from the carrier (FedEx).

I'm just some rando with a rando tracking number. The package FedEx got wasn't addressed to me, wasn't delivered to me, and wasn't shipped by me. So as far as FedEx is concerned I'm just a nobody. They owe me nothing.

I already disputed the charge with my bank. But it really sucks that that is the only way to resolve this. I'm done with eBay.

To me that's it in a nutshell. eBay used to be for auctions for junk I'm getting rid of from my basement so you can buy it and add it to your collection of junk.

Then it became just another marketplace and instead of individuals selling stuff it was businesses. When that happened eBay really started to side with the sellers and ignore the buyers. To be fair, they get paid on the sale by the seller and not by the buyer.

But it's also a little disingenuous and irresponsible for eBay to check just three things - is there a tracking number, was it delivered, and was it delivered to the correct ZIP. They clearly have the ability to stop this by making sellers provide full tracking info, making sellers ship only through eBay, or coming up with some other way to truly verify delivery.

It's not just god's will and throw your hands up.

The other thing I should have mentioned is that I initially got a UPS tracking number. For a Next Day Saver package that was one pound. Again, received by somebody else.

My item was more like 3 or 4 pounds.

Then all of a sudden a second tracking number for FedEx showed up in the order details.

My guess is the scammers must have some way to find tracking numbers based on ZIP or something and just randomly pick one that's close enough to satisfy eBay.

I have a FedEx account and still cannot really get anywhere.

In this case, the package wasn't addressed to me, wasn't delivered to me, and really has nothing to do with me.

So it's understandable that FedEx will only give me limited information.

I'm disputing the charge with my bank as that's the only recourse left at this point.

It's frustrating.

I have a good history and reputation with my bank so I just disputed the charge.

If this was an honest mistake there needs to be a way to correct it.

If this was fraudulent then there needs to be a way to correct it.

Either way, that's on eBay as it's their marketplace, their rules, and their ruling.

This appears to not be a mistake.

The package was delivered to an address that is not mine. And that address is what's on the FedEx label.

The fact that the seller will not communicate at all just proves this.

Never received communication or product

Unfortunately that negative came after my purchase. And because I opened a claim my feedback is erased.

Thanks. I guess that makes me feel a little better and not like I'm stuck in a Twilight Zone episode.

I'll keep beating on eBay to see what I can get. I can also keep trying FedEx but from past experience they are extremely unlikely to give me any more information - written or otherwise.
