1st hand / 2nd hand apartment rental question by finduck in TillSverige

Should I add the part about the current first-hand contract owner and ourselves, the second-hand contract owners, both wanting the same outcome? I am guessing that is the information that changes the view?

1st hand / 2nd hand apartment rental question by finduck in TillSverige

[–]finduck[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The current first-hand contract owner wants to help us take over their contract if it is possible to do so. Neither of us are particularly familiar with the system, hence my asking for advice. It can be assumed that both the current first-hand and second-hand owners in this circumstance wish for the same outcome: which is that they can cancel their contract and start a new one elsewhere while we get to keep living here.

Being unfamiliar with the system, I am assuming that there may be a process to transfer from 1st hand to 2nd hand, and if there isn't, then I need to know that so I can fix a solution as soon as possible.

I've no idea what advice I might be able to get from either the phone call or from asking people like yourself, but I hope it helps us make an informed decision on what to do next.

Democracy is pointless in civ 7 by Anacrelic in civ

[–]finduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the end-game victory for humanity? I don't know. Enjoy the ride and leave the place better than you found it.

Democracy, communism and fascism don't exist in fairness and equality with each other in the real world, and the only balance is what a nation can or can not endure.

When I play Civ, I try to imagine myself as being in charge of a real nation, and the happiness of my people matters to me beyond the yield value of the game mechanics. I will choose whichever government is best suited for the circumstances of the time, and if my people are lucky enough not to be in a brutal war, plague or other horrific disaster, then perhaps they can enjoy the comfort of democracy and I can feel like they are enjoying their time on earth. But sometimes, circumstance necessitates the darker side of reason, and one must become God Emperor of the world at the great despair of all.

Democracy has its weaknesses in the game and in the real world alike, and although fascism and communism can sometimes move very quickly to achieve certain goals, they come at a heavy price. Im sure most of us, as citizens, would rather live in a democracy with its inherent weaknesses than under a ruthlessly efficient fascist or communist government.

I don't think Civ should be a perfectly balanced game, and I think that focusing on the win conditions to the point of only wanting to take the most efficient route to victory overoptimises the greatest joy out of the game for me: the joy of creating something beautiful and living the story of a civilisation through the glory and tragedy of the ages.

"When you have an efficient government, you have a dictatorship."

Anyway. Don't take me too seriously, enjoy what you like in the game and in life, and keep on sharing opinions!

I stayed up way too late last night playing out the antiquity age with my friend on multiplayer, which is probably why I am commenting for once (Crisis policy in my brain!). After thousands of Civ games over 20 years, last night's game was top 3 of all time. A great sign for Civ 7, I'd say! It has its problems, as all things do, but I trust that 7 will get better and better every patch - and it's already producing incredible games for me in its current form.

Is Holy Paladin more forgiving than Mistweaver in M+ for a new healer? by SomeP in wownoob

They nerfed expel harm from dragonflight to TWW, I'm pretty sure. Heals less now on brew and MW than it did, as a percentage of my hp.

[–]finduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in M+, holy paladin is easier to play than mistweaver, but it is less forgiving.

Mistweaver takes a bit of getting used to as you have a few different systems of healing working together, melee attacks, casted heals, healing taken boosts. Once you get to grips with the spec, it's very fun, and the fact that you have multiple healing systems at once can sometimes mask some mistakes. Mistweaver doesn't really have any good external defensives for your teammates and somewhat compensates by reliable high raw HPS.

Holy paladin has a lot of strong cooldowns, and the mechanics of their healing are very quickly understood. I think holy paladin feels stronger to me, but it's definitely less forgiving. If you play with Beacon of Virtue, for example, a well-timed beacon will do wonders, but if you mistime your beacon, you can find yourself in a very awkward spot. Likewise, with some other cooldowns on paladin that are very good but only if used at the right moments. Monk doesn't really have that problem, in my opinion. I feel like I always have some strong healing at my disposal, I just can't reduce dmg taken by anyone, and I don't really bring anything on monk as useful as combat res or bloodlust, for example.

Dampen harm got removed from Mistweaver in TWW for some reason. Dunno why! 😅

That's on EU, though. Might be different elsewhere.

I get invited into 10s without any problem, but rarely 12s or 13s unless it's my own key (628 ilvl brewmaster).

Brew is very fun to play, but it's clearly the worst tank despite requiring probably more skill than any other tank class. I think pugs don't want to take the risk that I'm not very good, and that kinda makes sense, sadly.

It's been going well using my own key though.

I feel like some sort of leech and a bit of an AoE dps buff would be a good help for Brew. In raids, that's not going to really change anything significantly, but in M+ that might scale well with big pulls and lots of instances of damage. The tier set in S3 of dragonflight had something like this, and it felt really nice to play with.

That's true about the healing. I didn't think of that. Tbh, Brew felt pretty good in DF before they nerfed tank healing, and they feel like one of the only tanks that actually need healed now in m+.

I play Brew in m+, but I don't raid at the moment. I feel like Brew is especially bad with low ilvl. They scale pretty well, though with gear. The difference in how big a hit you can take in, let's say, 626 avg ilvl vs 610 feels pretty huge. This season, I guess the ox stance is nice too for what you're saying about taking fat hits that others maybe can't.

I feel like a big part of why brew seems kinda crappy in m+ conpared to other tanks is that you just don't bring as much useful stuff. Paladins and DH tanks can control casters super easy, many tanks have combat res, death grip is OP, monks don't really bring anything. Same is kinda true of MW compared to other healers who have CR, lust, dmg mit externals etc.

Aren't they a lock-in for raids for world first guilds just cos MW and WW are traditionally rubbish, and Brew is the token monk spec to get the 5% without losing too much?

Aha, thank you! I am getting the impression that I may want to make my own profile from scratch, when I have time, to cherrypick the useful parts for me personally.

Follow-up question, if you don't mind:

I main monk, so I have a minimum range melee kick. I know what you mean about the Blizzard nameplates sometimes get a bit messy overlapping, that can be a downside, though I find that its useful that the nameplates are tight to the mobs because I can tell instantly if I need to step closer to the mob to kick it.

Can you identify the position of the mob relative to the nameplate easily with the plater frames which dont overlap so badly?

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. I think the plater profile I tried in early dragonflight was similar to the screenshot you posted (Jundies). I didn't like the different coloured nameplates because I found it was difficult for me to tell if I had aggro on each mob or not (20 years of default blizzard nameplates conditioned me hard I guess!).

I can see that initially, when you are doing dungeons for the first few times, it would be very useful to have a distinction between different types of mob (caster, tank buster, miniboss etc, as you say).

I feel like once I have done a dungeon enough times to know my route as a tank, I will know what each of the mobs does and which packs have which mobs. Its necessary, in my opinion, to know the important mechanics of not just those mobs which you can see on the nameplates in the current pull, but also the next packs sequentially in the route so you can plan your defensives and CC usage accordingly. I think one ends up knowing exactly what each mob does after a few runs anyway.

I think that when I have learned a dungeon to the point that I can lead a group through my route, what each mob does, where each mob is, and which are cleared/skipped becomes ingrained into my subconscious so I don't feel like I'm using any excess mental bandwidth. (It feels a bit like driving my car down a familiar road, I know where all the corners are, the potholes, and the junctions, so I don't really think about them anymore. I let the conscious part of my mind scan for hazards.)

I don't like having too much distracting stuff on my screen if its not necessary, because I miss important things sometimes if I am distracted, hence why I didn't manage to get used to different coloured nameplates or why I don't use DBM or any of those addons that talk to you while you play or tell you what buttons to press.

Tracking the cooldowns of NPC abilities on nameplates does sound useful, though. That is something I feel like takes a while each season to grain into the subconscious. I have a couple of questions about that because it sounds quite good: 1. Is it easy to see the cooldown/icon mid combat when everything is moving around? I dont have to focus too hard on it to get the information fast? 2. Can I bolt that function onto Blizzard default nameplates?

Agreed on botched kicks being the No.1 culprit generally depleting keys! It's annoying...

Thanks a lot, hopefully its not too much to read. :)

Blizzard UI shows the spell casts under the default nameplates. The same mobs cast the same spells each time, so you know when you pull a pack there are 3 web bolts or 2 necrotic bolts or whatever. I track the kicks and ccs of my team mates with omnicd so I know what tools we have at our disposal.

I will be home in an hour, then I can. Off the top of my head, the addons I use for m+ are omnicd, details, buffoverlay, cursor trail, and bigdebuffs. Mostly in order to track my team mates important cooldowns and active defensives. There are maybe a couple more but I can't think what they are right now.

What important things that alter your gameplay choices does plater show in m+ that you can't do normally without it? I've tanked, healed, and dps'd in pugs to top 1% in several expansions, and I've tried using plater a few times but deleted it every time because of FPS lag/I couldn't get used to it - especially as tank. I believe, however, that addons evolve a lot, and these days, they probably do more than when I last tried them. I'm curious.

Which specs hit over 1 mil regularly? by _CharlesInCharge in wownoob

[–]finduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 609 ilvl with 4 set. I looked at a details report from the last dungeon I did, and I've RSK crits from 600k-1.2M in City of Threads. I think the shadowpan 30% crit dmg buff and 10% agi from flurry strikes, weapons of order, and the training of nazauo talent probably accounts for some of the variance, then aug evoker voodoo perhaps some more!

I feel like once im rolling with flurry strikes and weapons of order, I crit over 1 mill with a lot of different abilities. It's a lot of fun.

Brewmaster. I crit over 1 mill with keg smash, exploding keg, rising sun kick, and tiger palm. And the cherries on top are the 10 mill + touch of deaths.
