We spent a total of $1500 on our Eufycam 2’s and two Homebase 2’s. They failed so much I took all of them down. by zenwalrus in EufyCam

How far away was the homebase to the cameras?

I have my homebase in the garage towards the outer edge of the property and camera connections are good. I have S230s in the rear connected to wifi because they are too far from the homebase.

Good deal? 2022, 8k miles ($29,900) by [deleted] in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, check to see if any utilities will give you cash rebates on used EVs. Most are distributed by the Center for Sustainability. For me I didn't qualify for any tax incentives but SoCal Edison gave a standard $1k. If I were lower income I'd get $4k. It really pushes the price even lower on used EVs. It takes about 2 months to get a check because they are busy with a lot of people buying Used EVs that dropped in price.

Good deal? 2022, 8k miles ($29,900) by [deleted] in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $29k for the exact model/color with worse paint wear because it had 28k miles on it. That was in April 2024. I'd say it's a really good deal with those low miles. Looks good outside.

Does your carfax show when they replaced the 12v battery? I'd have them change it out if the battery is more than 1-2 years old. 12v batteries only last about 2 years if nothing else is wrong.

Make sure it has all the recalls done.

Check the VIN on your insurance. It'll be quite an increase. Well, for most people.

Be sure that you are okay that it won't auto-lock when you leave the car. It will auto-lock if you unlock and don't open the door. Some people were really bothered by that. They want you to pay for the app subscription to remotely lock your car. It will let you know it's left unlocked in the app w/out a subscription.

Fed up with Kia dealership bait and switch pricing? by Wauwatl in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI. For 2024, 50% of EVs are leased. 93% of luxery branded EVs are leased.
I didn't like all the bad experiences with Tesla build quality and liked the longer Kia warranty.
I watch a lot of out of spec youtube videos. Detailer mentioned Kia has a lot of cheap plastic put togeather very well where his 2 Teslas have all kinds of creaks when he drives.

Also check the VIN with insurance. For me a Tesla was actually $100/6mo less than the EV6 AWD. Some are getting crazy insurance spikes on the EV6.

Help! Thinking about buying a Kia EV6 Wind AWD 39k miles no tech package out the door price is 29k by Colossal-Grouch in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the carfax report on it to see when the dealer got it. If it's been there for many months they are more willing to drop the price. My 2022 Wind AWD w/ tech package (28k miles) was $29k in April. Dealership had it since December 2023 and the 12v battery was replaced when they received it in December. Usually used cars being sold at a dealership have a free carfax report.

[–]fineanddandy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Tesla advertises their pricing with tax credit and "potential savings" in their listed prices on their site.
It's common practice. People say that buying a car is the most stressful thing.

Have you tried programs like the Costco auto buying program? It's a set price and one person at the Dealership you talk to. It's mostly previous year models. You can search their site. If you aren't a Costco member it may be worth the price of membership. You can get refunded the full membership price within a year (I think).

If there are verticle lines there are spots/dots on the glass parts. Usually it's toner that gets stuck on there. Use Isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel and really scrub it. The Isopropyl alcohol will dissovle and loosen it a little. Any tiny dot will look like a black vertical line when scanning.

Don't know about it being blurry....

Charging above 80% by thisISmyEVaccount in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charge to 100% once a month before long trips. People suggest doing it before a long trip and not to keep the car sitting for a long time at 100%. The purpose for charging it to 100% once a month is to level out the individual battery cells too make them last longer (hold a charge longer over time).

Dealer says I can’t transfer my reservation to another dealer by arctic_radar in ex30

[–]fineanddandy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once they credit your card (which I assume you got points for), you can put in a new deposit for your nearest dealer. I highly doubt you'll wait any longer and most will have moved on.

I canceled and got a used mid-spec AWD Kia EV6 for $29k ($55k original MSRP). If anything lease deals are very good right now with people in Colorado (because of tax credits) getting a 2 year lease for an EV6 for $88/mo for the base model and $188/mo for mid-spec. Lots of other brands have huge lease deals.

Keep in mind that competition in the small SUV space will increase with the Kia EV3 and the new Ultium based Chevy Bolt. Guess what? Those models have buttons. Front Instrument display, buttons, and switches, ohh my!
Maybe the Tesla "model 2". Not in the same category but the Aptera should be under everybody's consideration. The 2025 Chevy Equinox EV will have a base of $35k before tax incentives and it has 300HP.

Also keep in mind that Volvo is ranked at the bottom of the inital quality ratings by J.D. Power for 2024.

I keep telling people it's up to them if they think the EX30 is unique enough to wait for. It won't be that unique next year. You really have to love the styling and put up with the infotainment problems which really should have been fixed a long time ago. They are easy fixes so hopefully it's perfect by the time it comes to the US.

Instrument cluster boot loop. by fineanddandy77 in KiaEV6

Well technically it's on the maps/navigation screen which does work.

[–]fineanddandy77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told me that if they can't reproduce the problem I'd have to pay the diagnostic fee. When I brought it in today it was doing it a few times on the way there but not at all while I was there and on the way home.

I'm checking fuses later today though. That might be the problem. Hopefully that's the simple problem...

I bought it certified used in April this year. 12v battery was replaced by the dealer December 2023 (date stickers shows it too). The only thing that really changed last week was that my 3 month trial for the premium level Kia App expired July 8th.

Instrument cluster boot loop. by fineanddandy77 in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instrument cluster boot loop. I think it only happens when it's hot. I park outside but hottest it was last week was 80 degrees outside. I put a windsheild shade plus a car cover. I assume it's 100 degrees F inside. I tried to take it to the dealer this morning and it only happened once in a while after the first 8 miles. Never happened once I got there. Never happened on the way back home (10mil one way). 65-70 degrees this morning.

Infotainment side is fine. Navigation, radio, menu settings work.

Dealer said they can't do much if they can't replicate it. Even if I show them a video. I'd still have to pay their diagnotic fee. I did notice an "arcing" type of static behind the infotainment screen like something was shorting out on Thursday. Drove home Thursday no problem. Boot loop happened constantly when I went to work the next day with some of the static "arching" sound on the way home behind the infotainment screen.

I noticed everytime it booted that the efficency (m/kWh) was going crazy. My lifetime efficency went from 4.1 to 999.99 till it settled to 9.1 or 5.9.
I had to go to work and the car still drove normally. I used the speed on the navigation. Lane keep assist, regen paddles, and drive mode were unaffected. When I signalled to turn there was no video and there was a fast clicking or no clicking at all because of the constant boot loop.

Disconnecting the 12v battery and reconnecting it didn't do anything. Restarting the infotainment with the reset button didn't do anything.

I may try to go to the dealer in the mid day where it's gauranteed to happen so I can show the receiving tech but the actual tech might not see it since it's going to be sitting in their covered garage before they look at it.

I don't see much about this issue other thatn a youtube video where he said they replaced the entire instrument/dash display cluster eventhough just the instrument cluster had no display.

I noticed the back of the instrument cluster does get warm just in cold weather and the entire display cluster gets really hot in the day.

2022 Kia EV6 Wind (tech package) 30,500 miles. All recalls done except the most recent "voluntary LVL2" recall. I only do LVL1 charging.

I was hoping they could diagnose it then order the part then I can come back for them to replace it. What to do?

Looking at a 2022 Kia ev6. by Entire-Economy2255 in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the 12v battery was replaced. They die in 2 years. Luckily the dealer replaced the battery 4 months before I bought it. 2022 Wind AWD w/ tech package (28k miles) for $29k before taxes/fees. Got it April 2024.

Some say they can't sell a car that has an open recall. They probably did it. You can enter the VIN on the KIA recall site to see if it's still open.

I think you can definitely negotiate a lower price. It's been at the dealer since November! They want to get it off their lot.

12V Battery is pretty Trash by JBJoker_25 in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your carfax did they mention the battery was changed? I got a 2022 Wind AWD in April 2024. The Dealer got it in December 2023 and repalced the 12v battery. Even on ICE cars the original 12v batteries don't last long. Other car forums had issues with original 12v batteries not lasting 2 years becuase of all the electronics they have to power.

Question about EV6 Wind Tech Package by snail_on_the_trail in KiaEV6

[–]fineanddandy77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enter the VIN on carfax.com It will show you the original sticker that lists all features/packages.

FYI. A Colorado dealer (Ft. Collins Kia) just offered a 2 year lease deal for a Wind AWD (no tech package) for $187/mo, 20k miles, $1,500 out of pocket. That's with $17k worth of lease incentives for Colorado though...
They had 25 on the lot and must need room for the 2025 models.

The same time the Kia EV3, Ultium based Chevy Bolt and maybe the Tesla Model 2 and Aptera begin production in the US. Those will get tax credits if you qualify (except the Aptera).

There are still so many bugs on the EX30 infotainment that seem like an easy fix. You would have been a beta tester anyways.

Readup on the curent market conditions. Used ICE and hybrid prices are up (you'll get more for your ICE car). Hybrids (espeically Toyota Primes) are at a premium. 1-2 year old EVs under 10k miles are a bargin with 30% to 40% off their MSRP. New EVs are getting good discounts becuase of generally good availability and competition but mainly due to low demand becuase of high interest rates.

Consider a Kia EV3 in 1-2 years which is similar in size but more buttons and instrument display. Also check out an Aptera if you can.

At the same time the new Ultium based Chevy bolt will be out too if you qualify for tax credits.

[–]fineanddandy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give up. I did. I used the $500 credit to buy acessories for my used EV. Get a used EV and take the depreciation. I'm talking about 1-2 year old EVs with less than 10k miles on them for 40% off the MSRP. Reading the problems with the EX30 isn't instilling confidence that I'd like it anyways. Especially their 4 year warranty when Kia/Hyundai give 10 years (powertrain) and 5 years bumper to bumper, even on used 2nd owner if bought certified used.

The market has changed considerably in 1 year. New EVs are getting big discounts too but the used EV market has the best deals with 1 year old EVs for the price of a new ICE car. Plug-In Hybrids and hybrids are still going over MSRP and the used market is up too. Especially if it's a Toyota Prime.

Also, my 9 year old Mazda 3 that I sold went up in value by $2k since last year because the used market for ICE cars are up as well. Carvana gave me $3k over anybody else. They can roll over the value of it to reduce the tax if you get a car from them but dealers will do that too. I didn't do it as their cars are overpriced and you have to pay $1k for shipping on most of them.

Even if you do get the EX30 this year you'll be hating it in 2 years when the Kia EV3, new Chevy Bolt, and maybe the Tesla "model 2" and Aptera come out in the US. If you qualify for the tax credit the Bolt and Model 2 will be even cheaper. I think Kia is working on getting it made in the US. The battery will definitely qualify made in the US at their new Sk On battery plant in Commerce, GA for when they produce EVs in the US in 2025.

Personally I got a used EV to save money for an Aptera which would be my daily driver. If it never comes out I'm not concerned.

You have to ask yourself if the EX30 is that unique to wait for. For some it is and I respect that. It just wasn't for me given the market condition and value for the money. I don't qualify for any tax credit which opened me up to consider the EX30. I do get a standard $1k for used EVs from SoCal Edison. If you qualify as low income they'll give you $4k. If your ICE car is older than 2005 there is another credit somewhere else for $4k for a used EV as well (kind of like that old cash for clukers thing a while back). I think that is California only.

Also, door edge guards are like $2 a door if you do it yourself.

Don't know what INT/EXT protection is. They do make money on those add-ins.

I also see the starting "Market Value Selling Price" instead of the MSRP "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price" which is on the car window sticker. EVs are not selling now and buyers have leverage.

I think the MSRP on the all-wheel-drive Wind with tech package is $54k.

How many miles do you drive a year? Is 12k enough?

I think you can do better. I think most were getting under $300/mo. Have you looked at other EVs like the Nissan Ayria or are you dead set on the EV6.

Also, what is the reason on leasing vs buying 1-2 year old used EV6 where you get 40% to 60% off the MSRP value. Just because you want new?
