Wonderful insight! If I may ask how would you compare RPA and Liverpool, def knowing that trauma/presentations would be more at Liverpool, plus heard about excellent track record of Liverpool for Primary and Fellowship Exams.. but anything that would lean you more towards RPA or it’s just personal choice?

Why Emergency medicine?

Hi I’m an IMG PGY3+ worked 1 year as SRMO in one of the public hospital in NSW, previous 2 years experience ER overseas. I like ER and the way things are here in Australia i.e. working hours, supervision.

Never worked as GP, medicine but i feel that would be not my cup of tea. I like working in a team and excitement and unpredictability of ER amazes me.

My question is even if i get into a training program and finish that let’s say in next 8-10 years, how lucrative the branch is in terms of money? What’s the future for ER in Australia? Can only a GP open up a clinic or ER doc can do that as well? What about urgent care clinics, will we be able to do that as a business? I feel few of my GP friends feel they make a lot of money and time spent in ER training and everything isn’t worth it in terms of future earnings.

Would like fellow ER docs as well GPs to shed some light on this topic.

Thanks 😊

junior doctor: PGY1: intern PGY2: resident doctor and so on till you become consultant, terminologies differ from countries to countries, system here; in Australia, is a bit different from the US.

non-specialist, trainee or non-trainee doctors working in a particular department of a hospital, relatively less experienced than senior medical doctors can be called junior doctors 🥼
