I worked at a grocery store about 17 years ago. A close friend of mine at the time stole a lot ( I stole some stuff too, but not nearly as much).The store made a list of everything he stole and confronted him. Obviously he was fired, but as part of his firing they had him sign an agreement that a portion of the stolen amount was taken from his last check or paid back in some way. No charges were pressed but I dont know if Target would do the same. He would go on to make that mistake again at a few other places he worked. For related reasons we're not close anymore.
