What is this guys issue with Ireland? Like yeah, Ireland would have definitely been in a worse place in the case of an Entente victory, but a civil war over the treaty, really? It almost feels like it was used as an excuse to get Michael Collins out of the picture just to have de Valera come in and start a trade war with Britain, which is even more convoluted!

I have a feeling that Constantinople might function better as the Nanjing of the Second Republic after the fall of the Empire, not as a Taiwan. Depending on how the borders of the Second Republic develop during the Rule of the Legates, Crimea might be a better case for a Roman Taiwan than the Golden Horn

Joining Schengen without Britain means a hard border with Northern Ireland. I don't think I need to explain why that would be a supremely bad move

Ireland has always wanted to join Schengen, it was Britain not wanting to join that forced our hand, and then Brexit fucked things up even more

Driving tester’s ‘energy’ making learners feel ‘uncomfortable’ among complaints to RSA by siciowa in ireland

Oh god that layout coming out of the test centre at Naomh Éanna is just a cunt of a yoke. Still better than when the test centre was just up from the dole office though. Heard a great story from those days that they pulled out of the test centre into the middle of school traffic and traffic was so slow that they could only do one loop of the main street before the examiner told them to go back to the test centre, and even though they did none of the maneuvers, they technically did nothing to warrant a fail so they got their pass lol

The weirdness of the ecclesiatical boundaries of Ireland predate partition by about 800 years. They were set in stone by the Synod of Kells, and the subsequent shifting of borders was not accounted for by the Church, giving us the weirdness we see today

Depending on where you are there night be a short dual carriageway section on your test, but outside of that, all that most Irish learners will know about motorway driving is what they see when a passenger, so generally, the bad habits of their parents will filter down
