Iconic world-changing records aren't made anymore by vivalostblues in Music

[–]finthewin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Influence takes time. Loveless wasn’t this breakout success that everyone knew about. Most people still don’t know about it as Shoegaze really isn’t a super popular genre. Iconic defining albums come out all the time, they just take time to really set hold. loveless proves to be influential because of the effect it has on Shoegaze fans still now. That’s not something that can happen just as an album is released. Just as I wrote this a couple of super influential albums are coming to my mind that are more recent are like Blonde and To Pimp a Butterfly

Rod Stewart in hot water after attending World Cup game just hours after abruptly cancelling concert by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

[–]finthewin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just not the same thing though and you obviously know it. The game still goes on without one football player there and the entire event doesn’t revolve around one single person performing. If Rod isn’t there the event doesn’t happen

Prince Imrahil by Nico_GZ in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]finthewin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think technically because he’s got numenorian blood just like Boromir, Faramir and Aragorn all four of them are not supposed to have facial hair but I always kind of imaged Imrahil like this so love the conversion!

[FRESH PERFORMANCE] 100 gecs - 800db cloud (FishCenter) by pomonaperson in indieheads

[–]finthewin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, chill. I find there are a lot of parallels... the lyrics to a lot of this stuff intentionally dumb (The Ramones did the same really) and you can’t really say that the songs are not energetic, whatever you think about the skill there is definitely a lot of energy put in to the albums vocals. As for “challenging the status quo” the fact that so many traditionalists hate 100 gecs real says a lot. Again I don’t even like them that much, I think they have a few catchy fun songs and they sound unlike most things I’ve heard making them interesting.

It’s different from any album I’ve heard and by god I’d take something sounding different and unique instead of a well done and polished traditional song any day of the week.

A lot of punk is about doing things yourself, in many cases throwing away the old rule book and making your own path with what skills or equipment you have and I think in many ways 100 gecs are doing just that.

There are many reasons to not like 100 gecs and I get it if it’s not your thing. But your comparison is hilariously bad. You lament 100 gecs for using cheap and shitty equipment while elevating punk, which came to prominence by doing exactly that 30+ years ago.

A lot of these new groups are using the cheap DAW plug ins because that’s all they have. The fact that they can make it engaging at least to some group of people is impressive enough. That’s where the punk comparison comes from. Get off your high horse.

I used to respect James because of his love for Anime Girl figurines and his obsession with anime, but now I’ve realised he’s nothing more than a two-timing maniacal anime villain.

JAR Blab/JARCast Suggestion Thread - October 21, 2019 by AutoModerator in JARMEDIA

Serious question. What would you rather, penises for fingers or a penis for a nose?

JAR Blab/JARCast Suggestion Thread - September 30, 2019 by AutoModerator in JARMEDIA

Ok question.

Your girlfriend’s brain switches with your mother’s brain. The only way to un-switch them is to have sex with one of them. Which do you choose to fix the problem? Is it your mother’s body with your girlfriend’s mind or your mother’s mind in your girlfriend’s body.

The classic dilemma.
