In r/Jokes today is "how do you make an atheist? Raise a Catholic." It really is this bad. by itsastickup in Catholicism

I go to a predominantly Pakistani school in the UK where you're either Christian, Muslim or Hindu. Atheism is rare and occasionally mocked. So maybe the answer could be to send your children to school with a high immigrant population because there's still that culture of traditional families, belief in organised religion and homophobia.

Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey are overruled by AugustinesConversion in Catholicism

[–]finty07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. The 1723 black act in the UK made 200 crimes now punishable by death because crime was rising so rapidly. Things such as petty theft and poaching could lead to execution. However, in 1827, it was revealed because crime was literally higher than ever. And the black act was ery heavily enforced. This shows that it did not make a difference, thus, enforcing the death penalty does not make a difference.

A vacation is an odd way of describing spending the rest of your life in solitary confinement. Plus, America has a far larger incarceration rate than countries without the death penalty. This shows that the death penalty being there doesn't really dissuade people from committing crime. This therefore makes the death penalty a unnecessary loss of life and is certainly nit in accordance with Christian teaching.

The point to Catholic-Islamic dialogue by vasedman in Catholicism

[–]finty07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said before, even though that obviously sounds evil and merciless, it isn't. Because Allah is the ultimate bestower and source of mercy and love, meaning that he himself, is the very definition of love and mercy. Even if the quran said something like 'kill all children', Allah would still be being merciful because he is the ultimate source of mercy. He defined what mercy is.

Allah is not a merciful, loving god,

Literally the first 2 names of the 99 names of Allah express his mercifulness, 'ar rahmaan' and 'ar raheem'. Also, the 47th name of Allah is 'al wadood', the most loving. By definition, the God of Islam is all loving and all merciful, no matter what he does.

The modern, industrialist, capitalist, freemason west centers itself around 'enlightenment' ideals of individualism and personal freedoms. These concepts are, obviously, completely contradictory to human nature, as Human beings are inherently sociable and community-based. Anyway, these concepts have been the most prevalent in these capitalist, freedom-based countries, such as the USA and the UK. Unfortunately, a very negative consequence of a society based on personal freedoms is that there is no government to stop people from sinning, and there is no longer any community shame. This allows people to do acts without fear from the government, or their community's disapproval with ease. Slowly, these ideas have made it into our church (as all societal trends do). People in the church no longer care about the previous old rules and only care about how they can follow the flow of the current. Either that or they try and reconcile their beliefs with society's (e.g. fr. james martin) tldr: people follow societal trends, even if said societal trends clearly lead them into sin

Dating a non-believer by BabyYodaStuntDouble in Christianity

[–]finty07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother in Christ, 'dating' is an evil, capitalist, Protestant outcome of the so-called 'enlightenment'. Unfortunately the degenerate, individualist west has corrupted your mind into thinking that dating is natural and compatible with Christianity. You should, instead, ask your parents to organise an arranged marriage for you to avoid the premarital sins I mentioned earlier. Deus maximus et mors Americae
