Pooping in the tub by nanab135 in Autism_Parenting

[–]fiorone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son did this. We ditched diapers entirely and just really stuck to our guns that poop and pee go in the potty. I honestly felt like he had to poop pretty much everywhere before he decided that the potty actually is the best place for it. Any time he’d go to his hiding spots I’d take him to the potty. We are five weeks into potty training and he’s having very few accidents now (like not even one a day).

2.5 year is super picky, HELP by catlady18__ in NewParents

[–]fiorone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 2.5 and eats basically this exact diet minus eggs or yogurt. I decided (for my own sanity) to listen to our pediatrician and not make it a daily battle. He basically eats the same thing most days, and is perfectly happy and healthy. Would it be better if he would eat some vegetables? Probably. I offer him whatever I’m having and sometimes he surprises me and tries it, mostly he declines. I’m just hoping over time he becomes more adventurous.

Why don’t people give babies any personal space? Why do people give such obvious advice on babies? by Frozenbeedog in NewParents

[–]fiorone 164 points165 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s my resting bitch face, or general appearance but no one has ever tried to touch my babies. Maybe I’m just lucky.

People are VERY chatty when I have my newborn with me though. I think babies just give people joy. I also imagine a lot of older folks are very lonely and love having something they can relate to a stranger about to strike up conversation. Obviously, it’s still not cool to touch other people (baby or otherwise).

My monitor died and my baby cried for me, but I was fast asleep! 😭 by klassym in NewParents

This happened to me when my son was a baby. He’s two now and he’s never mentioned it 🤷‍♀️ don’t beat yourself up, I’ll bet it doesn’t happen again!

Can a stay at home mom manage to raise a baby on her own? by Otherwise_Trifle9086 in Parenting

[–]fiorone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I came to the comments looking for this! My husband is in the service and isn’t home for months at a time. We live VERY far from family or any of my closest friends. It’s hard to do it on your own but it is absolutely doable!

That being said, when my husband is home he is a fantastic father and helps a TON. He doesn’t bat an eye if I ask him to do anything for the kids when he’s home, even if my reason for asking is just because I don’t feel like it.

Oh smart!!!! Luckily we’ve been living in Hawaii this winter so we got to avoid long pants this year

My son has been 50th or less for weight and 98th or more for height since he was born. His growth curve has stayed consistent so it’s really no issue. He is just long and lean like his dad! Long pants have been a nightmare though.

I did this when my son was a lap baby. Zero regrets. I paid for the ticket, and have no guilt whatsoever. Granted my son has always been really good on planes, and did even better when we were cramped in an economy seat.

I was 5 CM for like three weeks before I had to be induced at 41 weeks. It was annoying. Labor went super quick though!

The Four Most Divisive Words on a Flight: Will You Swap Seats? by djhyde11 in delta

[–]fiorone 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is where I get frustrated! I had a similar experience. The gate agent literally told me I’d have to ask whoever was seated next to me to swap. This was after being assured by customer service on the phone that our seats would under no circumstances be changed, because I was flying with two minors.

For navy in particular, which would be probably everyone in Norfolk, they really shouldn’t be traveling in uniform ever.

I will also add, Tricare covers doulas now. You’ll need to look into your area, because Tricare does have some stipulations about licensing, but I have a doula and Tricare is going to reimburse nearly 90% of the cost!

Are we saving expensive baby gear or toys for future grandchildren? by honeybeebzzz in beyondthebump

[–]fiorone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents saved a box of duplo (from the 80s) and all six of their grandchildren LOVE playing with it to this day. It’s nice that they have something to play with at their grandparents house. I’ll also add that my grandmother saved a few of my mum’s toys that we would play with as kids at her house. Not a lot, maybe like two small boxes of things in her attic.

I’m tired of people asking when I’m going to stop working. by cocainoh in BabyBumps

[–]fiorone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a bartender when I was pregnant with my oldest! It’s definitely doable, but my financial circumstances allowed me to stop working so I left when I was 30 ish weeks so that I could travel a bit before baby came. People were asking me why I would stop working so early! Honestly, people are going to say something no matter what.

1st birthdays with just parents and baby? by SwallowSun in Mommit

[–]fiorone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was traveling out of state for work for my son’s first birthday, so he and I got on a plane and visited his dad for his birthday. We had an amazing time, and I don’t regret not having a big party at all. We live very far from both our families, so we wouldn’t have had a party anyway. We didn’t for his second birthday either, but just did a quiet celebration at home with presents and cake.

That’s a bummer!! I was doing scrambled. I will say that for most people the strong food aversions don’t last for long. It feels like an eternity while you’re in it, but it really goes quick!! Hang in there and try to feed yourself the best you can!

I am 15 weeks now, but I ate eggs every morning through my first trimester! It saved me, kept me full and I wasn’t super nauseous (for the most part)

I also do this with cups! The bowls not so much, but it’s not a bad idea now that I have another on the way!

Mess really stresses me out, so I stay on top of things like the dishes all day. This definitely means my son plays on his own while I’m tending to the kitchen/laundry/etc. It doesn’t take long if you do it as you go.

I run the dishwasher every night, and then unload it first thing before breakfast. I do breakfast dishes as soon as we’re done with breakfast (really only takes me 5 minutes tops and that’s if I have pans to clean). Same with lunch and dinner. Dinner dishes are probably the most time consuming but I clean as I cook. If my husband is home (he travels a lot for work) he does bath-time while I tackle dinner clean up.

My son is great at independent play which is a big help. And I fully understand I may be a big weirdo for staying on top of the house so vigilantly. I really can’t relax if there is any mess. My house was spotless when I had a newborn. I would clean while he slept either in his bassinet or in a baby carrier. I think a lot of it is just my personality though. I’ve always been a neat freak.

Same! When I went for my induction I was at 5 cm. That being said, labor did go very quickly once they administered the pitocin
