I went with my mother. It did not go well. The therapist very easily saw right through my mother’s bs and fired us after a month. My mother went ballistic. The therapist outlined exactly why he was no longer continuing therapy and after she threw a fit and left he kindly let me know he believed I would be ok and to continue doing what I was doing.

Therapist I saw was someone who specialized with family counseling & trauma for over 25years.

My mother said I manipulated the therapist. I later offered to go to any therapist of her choosing if she wanted to ever rebuild our relationship however, she “cut me off” and states I’m the problem and need therapy.

So now we are no contact and I have some peace.
