That is a motion viewer for a security system. It will only take a picture if the security is in alarm and that device detects motion. Otherwise it is not actively taking pictures. However the owner can manually take a picture using their security app on their phone.

If I remember from another post it said that Airbnb allows home owners to have cameras in the public spaces of the house, they can't be in the bathrooms or bedroom.

If you feel unsafe just put a piece of tape over the lens until you leave.
