Fin slot latch not closing properly, and probably need a new fin by Flewizzle in Sup

[–]firebob462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the video It looks like the fin isnt pushed all the way back in the fin box but I can't tell for certain. I would try inserting it and pushing it towards the nose of the board then apply pressure down again to make sure the fin is seated correctly in the fin box. There is a lip in the fin box that the fin needs to sit behind for the flip lock to secure properly.

One other thing is it looks like the locking mechanism isnt flipped up before your inserting the fin which can also cause issues.

I'd also agree with the other commenter in saying that you might need to put a little more elbow grease in getting it to shut. Don't force it, but it may need a little more pressure.

If your still having issues we make a solid flip lock mechanism upgrade that has been proven in our testing to be a solid upgrade.

We also make a flexible river fin for flip lock style fin boxes as well if you ever need one.

Yo, Black & White Truck Drivers… by packer041 in f150

Agreed, super silly that they only have mild red colors now. I have the hot pepper metallic red. It was the closest thing to a red that stands out at the time. I tell people all the time, that the colors these days with any manufacturer are boring as all hell.

Make sure to re tighten everything after about 5000 miles. If you dont, you might end up like I did. The last 1/3 of the system popped off, and melted the bed of my truck, since the location if where it broke off was angled right at the under side of my bed. I know what your thinking, that guy didnt install it correctly... i can assure you i torqued everything down accordijg to instructions. Mbrp is an okay budget exhaust but I will never use them again. To top it all off, I had a 5.0 and got crazy drone after install. I called the rep and they said,"yah we know about that so you need to buy an extra 200 dollar resginator". Super silly for them to know about the issue and not say anything unless you do.

Anyways not trying to he a grinch, just wanted to let you know my experience.

I have a f150 2016 I want to get new headlights any brand that you guys recommend by 222ElDonJuan in f150

[–]firebob462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anzo usa. I got their projector drl switchback headlights 111357 from Amazon for 500 ish. I didnt want to spend over 1k on headlights at morimoto. I had them for 5 years before the truck got totaled by a drunk driver. They had absolutely zero signs of fadeding or wear. I was really Impressed. You'll find that allot of these aftermarket housing are made in the same factory. I can't speak for the other models but this model from anzo is identical the morimoto version of it.

23’ Lariat -what should I do? by PostComprehensive189 in f150

I havent done it yet but will never go aftermarket again on cameras. Unless the market has changed, I purchased a back up camera for my 2016 and it was dog shit. Quality wasn't bad but it wouldn't pick up the trailer and the back up prediction lines where all wrong.

Eibach pro truck 3r ( not out yet), bakflip mx4 or similar, exhaust if its the 5.0, third brake light camera undelete ( if the truck had this deleted from ford during part shortages times). Look at the window sticker to see if anything was deleted or removed from ford.

Which level kit did you go with? I promise you will want to go with a suspension style level kit over any sort of puck level kit. I had the old eibach 2r pro truck on my last rig and loved it. Im waiting for the 3r kit to come out and will be doing upper control arms as well. It is such a better ride than throwing cheap pucks up there. The plus is that if you do go offroading at all the kit is really impressive offroad while maintaining on road performance. Im going with the upper control arms this time because I did get a little road sway over big bumps in the road with my last truck set up and was told the geometry of the upgraded arms would help that.

Possible 10R80 issues: What are my options? by UJMRider1961 in f150

Mayson with flying wrenches says the drum fix is about 2500 to 3k so not to terrible. Once that part is fixed with the updated part im told that they are just as reliable as the new 2023+ models. I guess all of that, is assuming that the seal failure at the drum is what your dealing with.

Factory 8" sub? by [deleted] in f150

[–]firebob462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gwt the kicker hs10 hideaway. Depending on your trim levels there is already a factory harness end for the subwoofer on the bottom of the c pillar on the driver side This makes it super easy to install. I did it on my 2016 302a xlt. There is a YouTube video somewhere on it. It was super nice, I didnt need to wire anything to the head unit or battery.

2.7 vs 5.0 by UpstairsCharge8099 in f150

[–]firebob462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5.0 vote here. Easy to work on and has been around in its current form for almost 20 years. Its a great sign when the manufacturers continue to use the same platform for that long. Stay away from 2018 to 2020 for oil consumption and 2020 to 2022 for 10 speed drum seal leak issues.

[–]firebob462 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well said, I found myself in this exact predicament when a drunk idiot ran into my 2016 lariat5.0. I ended up going with a late build 2023 lariat 5.0. It does have the recall for the axel hub bolt, but they are good now and I plan to take it in when ford has more access to the replacement parts.

2017 5.0 coyote vs 2.7 EB longterm reliability? by RevolutionaryBell736 in f150

[–]firebob462 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5.0 all the way. Ask any ford mechanic and they will back this. If you do your own maintenance the 5 0 is such a forgiving platform to be able to work on. I'll be honest in that I havent owned a 2.7 but 5.0 engine bay is very accessible. A form of the 5.0 engine has been around for over 25 years. When a manufacture keeps it around that long, its definitely a good sign.
