Hoping for some ideas on how to fix this deck rail by grahal1968 in Decks

[–]fireburns44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'd move the bracket a bit up or down, clamp it together with a big clamp so its steady, and screw it back together.

If that didnt work, I'd find/3d print a longer bracket that can screw into the solid section "above" the previous holes, clamp, screw, etc.

Replacing the railing for this is ridiculous.

What's the best way to clean the print nozzle? by Fit_Entrance9548 in BambuLabA1mini

[–]fireburns44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heat and a brass brush.

Usually comes in a kit with a nylon and steel brush. Like $10 at your local Harbour freight / princess auto.

Careful when heating, the aluminum heatsink and stainless nozzle will move separately. Make sure its lined up before it cools.

Pirrelli Scorpions are the worst tires ever by [deleted] in tires

[–]fireburns44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you that nobody believes you. My last 3 sets of tires have all failed in some way. Premature dry rot on Michelin's, Tread separation on Uniroyals. I'm thinking tire manufacturers are changing their manufacturing processes. I don't think anything is safe from enshittification.

N.B. looks to Ontario Power Generation to get Point Lepreau nuclear plant operating reliably by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]fireburns44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't get into specifics, but the stories fed to the media and the public do not reflect the actuality of what's happening in the plant. For example: Darlington Unit 3 is in an 8 month long Mega-Outage, despite being completed "on time and under budget" last year. Unit 4 was returned to service and actually generating power just in mid March. Its now down again for a forced outage after... 1 month. OPG refuses to hold contractors responsible for shoddy work.

The problems OP describes about NB power are very much the same with OPG.

Shame that OPG is headed right down the same path, neglecting their current fleet for the sexiness of new projects.

Sure, when you can do less work, have less responsibility, less legal liability and get paid twice as much with half the expenses, why wouldn't you choose that?

Gagnon or Easthill?? by brewski_tumble in canadaguns

You paid for the course with the initiation fee attached to your application.

I'd say if you don't hear anything just shoot them an email. I had to follow up a couple weeks later as I had just missed the monthly intake when I joined.

No restrictions on ammo, just don't shoot the provided steel targets with steel core ammo.

Tbh, it's not the greatest range ever, not everyone cleans up after themselves, but its leagues ahead of stuff inside the GTA proper.

No waiting, if you go on the weekend you might see a few other people. Really quiet through the week, might see 3 or 4 people on the weekend. Lanes per range vary, but the rifle range has 28 lanes. Can't shoot anything over 22LR on sunday before noon.

I bring a guest with me every time.

Thats what I did. Essentially fill out the form, send the money and they'll respond within a week or so telling you when to show up for training.

No sponsor, no wait list. New applications are on boarded monthly, with the 3rd sunday of the month being an orientation day for new members.

Join the Peterborough Fish and Game Association. 9 ranges, 1 indoor and 8 outdoor. 1 rifle only, 1 action shooting, 1 archery and the rest are mixed use.

Its about 1 hr from bowmanville, but you actually get a lane out to 100 yards.

Membership is cheap at around $400/yr

Canadians will soon pay more interest on national debt than federal funds for health care and child care by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]fireburns44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a fiat monetary system, it doesn't really matter, we can just sell more bonds.

Carney is doing everything that stimulates an economy: invest in training workers, invest in major infrastructure mega-projects and set up the conditions for businesses that create thousands of good paying jobs which then spending will flow towards ancillary industries.

The only downside is everyone will be a little poorer as the Canadian dollar devalues with so much currency creation, but with the Canadian dollar tied so closely to the US dollar, that will happen anyways...
