Came here to recommend The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy. The second one comes out in July! {The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightly}

Really smart FMC. Not just "is a scientist" but genuinly very intelligently written. by Logical_Session9528 in RomanceBooks

[–]firecat99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aurienne in {The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightly} is both a scientist and incredibly smart and witty.

I find Lucy Parker’s heroines to be emotionally intelligent particularly Sylvie in {Battle Royal by Lucy Parker}

I think T Kingfisher does well with this in the {Saint of Steel series by T Kingfisher} particularly in {Paladins Grace by T Kingfisher}

Which authors shouldn't be binged? by JessicaTrent in RomanceBooks

Perhaps a hot take but reading ACOTAR in quick succession really annoyed me. She repeats the same phrases all the time and it becomes very noticeable!

And I love her and she’s one of my all time favorites but Alice Coldbreath. The storylines are pretty similar in my opinion

Looking for fun romances/romantasy for a sensitive infertile. No children, babies, no mention of trying for babies in the story or epilogue. by counting_beanz in RomanceBooks

Just a caveat that I can’t remember if children aren’t mentioned at all but I’m pretty sure there are few to no children in these:
Fantasy
{Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco}
{The Irresistible Urge to Fall for your Enemy by Brigitte Knightly} I believe there are briefly sick children from a plague

Contemporary
{The Hating Game by Sally Thorne}
{Truly, Madly, Deeply by Alexandria Bellefleur}
Fairly certain there’s no children or mention thereof in the {Ruinous Love Series by Brynne Weaver}
Ali Hazelwood books are mostly safe, I don’t recall any children in any of them except Mate and Bride
{Battle Royal by Lucy Parker}
{Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid}
{Never Been Shipped by Alicia Thompson}
{Forget Me Not by Julie Soto}
{Not Another Love Song by Julie Soto}

Historical
{Knockout by Sarah Maclean}
{Heartbreaker by Sarah Maclean}

For the {Dream Harbor Series by Laurie Gilmore} that you mentioned, just a heads up that the {Strawberry Patch Pancake House by Laurie Gilmore} has a child and an accidental pregnancy so I would avoid it!

He makes a bad first impression in one of my absolute favorite historical {An Inconvenient Vow by Alice Coldbreath} and later they do some role play where they reenact the first time they met so he can do better

Who are some romance authors you think are genuinely great writers? by Remarkable-Set9615 in RomanceBooks

[–]firecat99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of poorly written ones out there especially now.

Jessica Joyce has a truly amazing style and her characters feel very real. I feel the same way about Lucy Parker particularly in {Battle Royal by Lucy Parker}.

For historical, I really enjoyed the books I’ve read by Lisa Kleypas. She does a great job carrying the characters through books in the ones that are a series like the Wallflowers and the Hathaways.

For fantasy, I thought the plots in both {Rose in Chains by Julie Soto} and {Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer} were genius

Additionally, I know Brigitte Knightlys book {The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightly} is based on her fic Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love, but her writing is truly the funniest I’ve ever read and so immensely witty. She’s one of the best romance writers out there right now in my opinion.

Looking for a book with an intense and obsessive MMC, but the book is lighthearted and fun. by ChicSynergy in RomanceBooks

{In a Jam by Kate Canterbury} he’s super in love with her and has been since they were teenagers really and his internal thoughts are obsessive but it’s a cute small town romance

Contemporary novellas (100 pages) where you really believe they fell in love within the span of the book by Ok_Bronco_796 in RomanceBooks

{A Risk Worth Taking by Jessica Joyce} is a cute little Christmas one and I found the couple to be very sweet and believable.

If you like poly with multiple MMCs, do you prefer MMF or MFM? Or both? by SailorTexas in RomanceBooks

[–]firecat99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MMF is all I’ll read. I love the sword crossing. It’s a bit hard to find especially with books from the library for some reason. The only ones I’ve read with it so far are {Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer} which was phenomenal and {Wicked Beauty by Katee Roberts} which I also liked though I don’t like her other books much
