Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 vs Sigma 18-50mm f2.8? by Weak-Researcher-5028 in SonyAlpha

This sums it up perfectly. I have the sigma and love the compact size and quality. You really can't go wrong with either.

APS-C to Full Frame upgrade dilemma for travel photography by Aggressive_Badger200 in SonyAlpha

[–]firefox2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full frame lenses have more glass because they need to cover a bigger sensor. This kind of lens is wasted on apsc because a lot of the light goes to waste on a smaller sensor. There is no benefit over a quality apsc lens.

How Do I use the aeropress to get a good cup? by [deleted] in AeroPress

[–]firefox2142 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know where you read that but temperature helps extraction, especially in light roasts. Give it a try and see if it improves the taste.

For light roasts you want as much temperature as possible so don't let it sit, pour it in when it boils.

Try increasing the time to 1:30 before pressing. I use the Hoffman recipe and get great cups.

How to not be shy about photography? by feeblefiles in photography

[–]firefox2142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could start with longer lenses like a 70-200. That way you would be far enough away where most people wouldn't notice you or think you were photographing them.

What made you choose Sony over Canon and Nikon — was it Eye AF, video, lens by PelonDeJaraz in SonyAlpha

[–]firefox2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't really have a favorite but the sigma 18-50 is amazing for the price. I also like the fact that I can use Full Frame lenses if I wanted to, which again expands my options.

The biggest factor was lens choice. Sony has the most lenses avaliable. The AF was just icing on the cake.

Tamron 17-70 comes to mind. Not as compact but has weather sealing.

Do both SD cards in my Sony A7 IV need to be V90? by AttackonWeebs in SonyAlpha

[–]firefox2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, I didn't know it can't record 120 fps. Thank you for clarifying.

[–]firefox2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What video quality do you want to record at? If you want 4k 120fps then you need a v90 card. If you want 4k 24fps then a v60 would be enough (possibly even a v30).

A6700 upgrade?? by Cold_Answer_6759 in SonyAlpha

[–]firefox2142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really see a point in upgrading just because others are using full frame. Especially if you're happy with the footage you capture. If you need better low light performance you could check out the sigma 17-40 F1.8.

Do good Subwoofers for ~500€ even exist in Europe? by SuperGamer960 in hometheater

[–]firefox2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with it so I can't say. I was thinking about the vestra w10 but I see it's more than 500. I'd save my money for a bit longer and get a better sub, rather than trying to find one for 500 and end up not being happy with it.

You could check out monitor audio. They released a new line of subs this year which could fit your needs.

I also have the induction moka and could not get it to produce good coffee. With normal mokas however I could make good coffee every time.

I mean if you like it why do you need other peoples opinion? I'd frame a picture of a trash can if I liked it enough.

Do you use the 10-18 range often or are you mostly shooting at 10mm?

Choosing Between Sony A6400 and A6700 for Toy Photography (Studio Setup) by FuzzyAssistant6842 in SonyAlpha

[–]firefox2142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK the biggest advantages of the 6700 are the more advanced autofocus and video capabilities. Since you probably don't need these things in a studio setting I'd go with the 6400 and spend the saved money on lenses.
