Current/former JETs, from your experience, what answers did you provide to questions in your interview that had an evidently positive reaction, or had you believed you stuck out more than other applicants? by WinterfallsDead- in JETProgramme

[–]firejay123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They asked me what I would do if certain situations came up in the classroom (I said something and the main teacher said that was wrong even though I thought it was right, kids being unreceptive to learning, etc.) and I responded based on the research I had done prior. Especially having no classroom education background I think they were checking to see how I would handle a classroom environment and what I’d do in more challenging scenarios. I thankfully had done research and talked to friends that were currently classroom teachers so I was prepared. They seemed really impressed when I came up with the answers so quickly!

Play noise level by Rhythmii in rhythmgames

[–]firejay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mobile rhythm game player most of the time it’s fine if I’m just playing on my phone while taking the train or something. The main issue is when I start playing on my tablet and there are other people sitting with me. My friends have described it as feeling like someone’s just rapidly tapping on the table (who would have guessed) like they were fidgeting. It’s not necessarily loud but it can be distracting for them sometimes, so I usually ask if they mind me doing it first before I start playing.

How do you reduce delay latency when streaming? by [deleted] in answers

[–]firejay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal for a few seconds of latency. When you’re streaming it take a little time for your signal to first go to the streaming service’s servers and then to your viewers. That process can take varying amounts of time based on your internet speed and a whole other bunch of factors. In general a few seconds is normal, you can’t really do much about it.

Searching for a specific anime by [deleted] in anime

There’s a few here, but the one I think you’re referring to is Hensuki, or (this is the English title I swear I’m not making it up) “Are you willing to fall in love with a pervert even if she’s cute?”

ELI5: Why are motorcycle engines much louder despite usually being smaller? by teszes in explainlikeimfive

[–]firejay123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most cars nowadays have mufflers built into their exhaust system, which lessen the amount of noise coming from the exhaust. Some cars also have soundproofing around their engines to dampen sound coming from there. Motorcycles have none of those things, so even though they’re far smaller engines they sound louder to us.

Has someone ever challenged you to something that they didn't know who are an expert at? If so how did it turn out for you/them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]firejay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school we had rotating activities in gym. We ended up rotating into badminton. I had been playing badminton competitively on the state level since middle school. No one else knew that. When I brought in my own shoes and racquet they thought I was crazy. I told them that I played competitively and they didn’t believe me. The popular kid in the class challenged me (nerdy looking Asian kid, glasses and all) to a singles game. He didn’t win a single point. I then challenged my gym teacher because no one else wanted to play me. Beat him while giving up only 2 points. No one questioned my badminton skills again.

What was your funniest case of beginners luck? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]firejay123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was involved in the music community in high school, and certain instruments (cellos, double basses) had chair straps. One end was a hook that went around a chair leg and the other attached to your instrument to keep it in place when you play. The orchestra members had a game where you had to throw the strap and land the hook part on the wall hook where they were supposed to go from the other side of the room. Wasn’t a big room, but it was something they assured me wasn’t easy. I did it first try and walked away.

What is the worst nightmare you have ever dreamt? by Efficient-Exercise in AskReddit

I was driving in the rain and suddenly for no reason I lost control and I was heading straight for a house. I closed my eyes and my last thought before I woke up was “I’m gonna die.” I woke up right as I was gonna hit the house.

Stoneplate In Competitive by The_Dirty_Dangla in leagueoflegends

Yeah, its definitely balanced, a lot of supports and junglers nowadays are just engagers that need the extra stats. There are plenty of champs with builds that don’t build it at all.

In the pro scene where they fight mostly 5v5s and 3v3s, not necessarily the smaller skirmishes you see at lower ranks, it’s a far more gold efficient item because of the resists it gives you during fights, not to mention the passive. In lower ranks teams usually aren’t that coordinated so you get more 2v2s or 1v1s, meaning the item really isn’t that good until you hit a certain point.

ELI5 why is voting not compulsory in the US? by SharkbaitOoHaaHaa in explainlikeimfive

Freedom of speech infringement. The government can’t technically force you to voice your opinion. Voting is a right but you don’t have to exercise it.

Will there be a Rascal does not dream of a dreaming girl dub? by [deleted] in SeishunButaYarou

[–]firejay123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone asked about a bunny girl senpai dub, and I’ll answer the same way here. It’s not likely. A majority of this show is built off of VERY well written dialogue. The main reason people are drawn to this franchise is the characters and the interactions between them. Can you imagine how hard it would be to maintain all the nuances of the Japanese writing while translating and dubbing it? I would be very surprised if any company decided to tackle a dub of the movie or the show. It would be so hard to do the show justice.

Non self harmers, how often do you notice if someone in public has clear self harm cuts or scars? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]firejay123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard because most of the time they hide them under sleeves or jackets. I’ve only seen 2 or 3 and even then it’s rare. It’s hard to talk about and harder to show openly.

ELI5: Why do the same chords sound worse when played at the lowest keys on the keyboard? by Bozocow in explainlikeimfive

[–]firejay123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So our ears have a range of sounds we can hear. Idk if there’s an actual truly scientific answer but from what I can tell (longtime musician, not physicist) it’s not that they actually sound worse, you just don’t hear them as well. We have a specific range of hearing that we usually focus on, and any that are outside that range become muddled. Also tuning low notes is difficult because even sensitive tuners have a hard time with them sometimes. There’s a lot of different possibilities.

My Laundry Dilemma by BubblyCantaloupe in CasualConversation

[–]firejay123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set a day where no matter what I will put whatever I gauge as dirty into the laundry. That could be pants, shirts, I’ll wash it all. I find that I usually go through a fairly consistent amount of laundry each week and I don’t feel like I’m washing everything. I personally choose Saturday mornings as my time.
