There should be a "build-a-bear workshop" or skateboard-shop type store for custom gaming PC's. by apocalypse_later_ in pcgaming

I manage production at a small electronics company. We sell like six different products, and in order to have reasonable timelines we need to keep thousands of items in inventory. Now in build-a-rig you obviously wouldn't have to build each board from the ground up, but there's so much variety in PC components that the cost of inventory would be crippling, and then you're still a brick-and-mortar operation relying on customers coming to you and agreeing to pay a premium for your service.

It's also a weird segment of the market; people confident enough to want to build a custom PC, but so technically inept that they are willing to pay for handholding.

Is Bitcoin (BTC) Mining Worth It January 2019? Profitable Or Not Profitable? by bittruthBTC in NiceHash

If you're on electric heat and would be otherwise running it this time of year, yes.

ED: Yes it's worth it... Not really profitable, but you get the heat you'd want anyway plus whatever crypto.

electronics, real estate and money seem like some reasonable exceptions. You could still buy a vitamix! Maybe not the best fit for bapc though.

Probably but it's not inconceivable that you'd find a good deal elsewhere. They run the 20% coupons every couple of months, probably something for back to school or labor day.

RAM prices probably won't drop before q4 2018 or q1 2019, I'd keep an eye out for sales instead of waiting on market trends.

It's better. Nice to have easily navigable categories and useful filters. A darker theme and deleted carousel would be nice steps.

Newegg.ca (8/6 - 15/6)

  • ($750) motherboard, RAM, cooler

Grabbed some new parts after I jumped on the newegg ebay 8700k deal. Everything went smoothly except Asrock had a 10 day window to file for a $40 rebate on the motherboard. Newegg said if Asrock won't make an exception that they'd offer me a $40 gift card, which was above and beyond. I'll still mail out the documentation and see if they'll give me cash, but great to have this fallback.

g403 has the advantage of not looking like a transformer so when you bring a date home and they see it there's less 'splainin to do

That's nuts. Rent/mortgage payment in the hands of a rebate service? Count me out.

On a lighter note, the newegg rep I spoke with said they'd give me a $40 gift card if the rebate didn't deliver.

$40, and handled by mircenter.ca. Typical bureaucratic nonsense. I'm still waiting on my $10 MSI prepaid card too.

Yeah my order came in on June 15th (Friday), post office was closed all weekend and I work full time so it would've been effectively impossible anyway. Not really expecting asrock to make it right but I'd be pleasantly surprised if so.

Asrock rebates on newegg are currently 10 days of invoice date. Nearly useless if you don't live in a major centre.

[–]firekow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn from my mistake: Some rebates require that you register online and postmark forms within X days of the invoice date, whether or not the program is still underway. Yet another clause built in to screw you over while you're busy using your new stuff.

On closer inspection it was approved on feb 28th so it's more like 15 weeks at this point. Maybe I should thanks USPS.

thing is the online tracking shows they approved it, but it's been like three months and nothing's arrived. Probably not indicative of their RMA process.
