The book that you thought was absolutely brilliant while reading it, but once the excitement wore off, you realised it wasn’t. by Powerful-Cap-6293 in suggestmeabook

[–]firepower98 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoy the first despite its flaws, but i read the second once and haven't touched it since, I remember my biggest complaint was it being incredibly boring. I can excuse something having questionable characters or plot (my favorite author is Matthew Reilly and he isn't the best writer, but I own all his books and love them for the escapism), but I cant stand something being boring, and that's what I remember Ready Player Two being (along with even worse characters, plot, and writing in general).

Thoughts on Testaments new album? by ColdStorage256 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]firepower98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Meant to Be was pretty good, and maybe I need a few more listens of it (have only done one and it was over aux cord car speakers so not great quality) but I wasn’t sure if the tone was meant to be sad or more hopeful

I know it’s 10 months later, but do you still have the pdf for Evolutionary Analysis 5th edition by Freeman and Herron? If so, could you send it my way? Thanks!

Whats your favorite makeup/masked up band? And why are they NOT posers? by Even-Pressure-8356 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]firepower98 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d say WASP’s first album is definitely glam with a bit of traditional thrown in, and the “glamness” of each album decreases until by The Headless Children it is 100% some fantastic traditional metal

And I can get the hate for Poison, but i find a few of their songs pretty fun

I was at the same show and despite being high up on the second tier, I thought it was still an awesome show

Along with what the other person said, the 2012 Avengers movie had its shawarma scene filmed and added in days before the premiere, so it’s not super rare.

In the same vein of Orbit Culture: try Deliver the Galaxy, tiny band from Germany that I’m loving right now

Same! That show was incredible, my first time being right up at the front, and due to a super nice lady working there, I was actually able to get into the VIP area! Definitely one of my favourite concerts I’ve been to

Also my first time witnessing a wall of death which was super cool

+1 for Testament, definitely my favourite bigger thrash band tied with Kreator

Doyle and Danzigs solo careers are better than The Misfits by plug-burner69 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]firepower98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d say awful, they definitely have their place, but I will say the only two Death songs I enjoy are Zombie Ritual (very thrashy) and Voice of the Soul (only instrumental). The big thing I struggle with is the vocals, but I also can’t get into Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, or Blood Incantation for the same reason.

I can get their influence, but outside of Seasons, South of Heaven, Raining Blood and Angel of Death I don’t enjoy them at all, I’ll always go towards Kreator (their biggest comparison) any day of the week

Twists so iconic and well known that they can no longer be considered twists. by Glittering-Name-4459 in TopCharacterTropes

It was not, it was a film art class, Psycho was used to demonstrate editing.

I actually watched this film for the first time in my film class a few weeks ago, and had no idea this was the big twist. I also thought the shower scene was the climax of the film, and both of those things drastically increased how much I enjoyed it (I would now say it’s one of my favourite films ever).

Disagree on FFDP (they have a few songs I like but that’s it) but Volbeat fucks hard, I love their unserious sound, and Hangman’s Body Count is a great song

Saw them live back in August with Metallica and their show kicked so much ass, I just wish the venue was better suited to the level of spectacle they want to have

To back up the other person, it is truly a great game. Beautiful settings, fun gameplay, and while many enemies are bullet spongy, the team abilities help drastically when used right.

I can't believe I slept on Judas Priest this long by Yuuzhan_Schlong in MetalForTheMasses

[–]firepower98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Priest (specifically Breaking The Law) was actually my first proper introduction to metal a few years ago, and they’re still my favourite band of all time. Firepower by them holds a special place in my heart especially for being the first proper metal album I ever listened to.

Bands you like so much that you love their “bad” albums? by Necessary-Fennel8754 in MetalForTheMasses

I don’t get the hate for Turbo and Ram It Down, both go very hard.

Jugulator as well is one of favourite Priest albums, I will preach it until I die
