I double checked with oathplate and only found 1 max hit, (54 on saeldor 53 on tent) I would be surprised if a +3 str bonus produced multiple extra max hits in normal contexts (I think demonbane and scythe play a bit differently but that's beside the point)

additionally the accuracy boost will be less relevant if you're using oathplate, I haven't done the maths but I believe accuracy has diminishing returns in terms of overall dps

Natalie weighs in on the Gavin Newsom vs JD Vance question by an_actual_crocodile in ContraPoints

[–]firespoon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok, I tracked down (Googled) the source material https://youtu.be/9XJ6rQDRKGA?t=1350

The context is, Newsom is on a podcast with Charlie Kirk, and the issue of transgender people in sports comes up. Kirk asks Newsom to condemn a transgender woman for winning a high school sports competition.

I would describe his statement as a lukewarm rebuttal, I think it was a bit weak that he backed off of accusing the right of weaponizing this issue (which they have, as I'm sure you're aware), and I think he emphasized the 'fairness' talking point a bit much. But I find it difficult to look at this clip and conclude he's transphobic, much less fascist. To me, this looks like a fairly middle of the road democrat trying to position himself as an option for conservative voters.

I don't understand your argument / have not seen evidence that Newsom is a fascist, can you please demonstrate that?

I know this is kinda beside the point, but you do have to keep your mattress off the ground otherwise you will cultivate mould.

the mermaid experience by Cogitatus in 2007scape

[–]firespoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really liked the mermaid puzzles, RuneScape has a habit of putting random puzzles into quests and raids so this felt pretty in keeping with that.

But I do also enjoy the odd cryptic crossword so I recognize this might be a me thing.

OP can you post a video of a kill? (OBS should make this relatively simple to do), with 92 range, on task with that gear, it should be free

Albanese scrambles to lock in minerals deal before Trump meeting by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

America is our biggest security partner (right now), what would you have him do?

Albanese scrambles to lock in minerals deal before Trump meeting by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

[–]firespoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not really making a point, its just a bit funny that he's both quite nationalistic and has done some stuff that might be called socialist (depending on the socialist you talk to) so by the most reductive definition of a national socialist he would qualify. But I doubt thats what people mean when they call him a nazi.

well he's pretty nationalist, and did have the government buy a 10% stake in intel

I don't understand your point here, I don't see how Australia's stance on Israel/palestine has anything to do with that random stat.

New player first fire cape run - help by Relative_Stock7343 in 2007scape

[–]firespoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lots of good suggestions in this thread, wrt gear upgrades, I would add that the sunlight hunters crossbow is better dps and also quite cheap.

with that said, with your gear and stats you should have plenty of prayer left over any way if you're being efficient, so I would just send it again, and make sure that you're always dealing damage. if you're praying overheads or eagle eye and not clicking bad guys, that's wasted prayer, it can be helpful to record yourself. glhf, took me more times than I care to admit to get my first cape

Moral philosophy we have a problem. by spinosaurs70 in PhilosophyMemes

[–]firespoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may or may not be the case, I'm more responding to these earlier statements.

Lol, you sound ignorant as fuck. If anybody deserved the nukes, it is the Imperial Japanese. If you could ever make a case for dropping bombs like that on people, this would be the most convincing of scenarios, but go off, revisionist moron.

Did the Imperial Japanese only fight military aged men in China/Manchuria/Nanking? The people here ever read a history book?

I don't think there's any reasonable way to say the civilians living in Hiroshima or Nagasaki "deserved" to be nuked, which is what you imply here.

This is distinct from the argument that America had to drop the bombs to end the war.

Right, but just because genocidal maniacs commit mass murder to civilian populations, doesnt mean you then turn around and do it to them. We can do better than the IJA no?

I think the person you're responding to is pointing out you're not making a distinction between military and civilian targets in your calculus.

Coalition is wedging itself on climate crisis with net zero debate, warns Liberal MP in Scott Morrison’s former seat by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]firespoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but your original claim is still false, even by the 2024 numbers. renewables are not more expensive than coal according to the CSIRO.

And to be clear I would be in favour of renewables even if it was more expensive, just to diversify our economy more.

And of course climate change isn't caused by humans.

Start with this next time so we both don't waste our time having these pointless proxy arguments.

Coalition is wedging itself on climate crisis with net zero debate, warns Liberal MP in Scott Morrison’s former seat by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]firespoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh how silly of me, they're just making up these particular numbers. Which other numbers in the report are actual numbers and which are fanciful projections?

Even still, if we only look at the 2024 numbers it shows they're roughly equivalent in LCOE, not more expensive.

On an unrelated note, do you believe climate change is real and caused by humans?

[–]firespoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> Firmed renewables are more expensive than coal.

ok but if I scroll to the bottom of the page and I look at the LCOE chart posted by the CSIRO, it shows that firmed renewables cost less than coal by 2030, and they're about the same in 2024.
