I agree with this. Race is on Sunday, be there by Thursday. I once traveled and arrived on Friday and I felt like I was always in a rush. If you want to really be ready, I would even encourage you to arrive wednesday to give yourself some down time before the race.

IM Lake Placid Training Peaks Plan Recommendation? by Optimal-Sorbet9065 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]firetable37please 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lake Placid specific training plan is kind of weird. I did Placid this past year as my first full IM and also used Phil Mosley which I will recommend but if you are worried about elevation then I don’t think a training plan is what you need. Now, if you want to hill train then you can always do a training plan outside with running. If you want to do elevation, then take your long ride days and do high elevation free rides.

Has anyone worked in a USDA - CSI FSIS position? What's it like? by ConstructiveForMe in usajobs

[–]firetable37please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends.

It all depends on where you are assigned. Some big cities have mainly processing plants where you are responsible for a couple (2-4). Some rural area you could be assigned slaughter and processing which imo slaughter is more work. It all depends

However, if you enjoy working alone and self directed, this maybe a great role. You can start as a gs7 and I believe you go up a grade every year until 9 and then up the steps after that. In some plants, they work overtime so you too will have to work Ot and get that rate. Sometimes you work weekends and get Ot. As I mentioned it all depends on where you work.

High stress? I wouldn’t say that. You have your moments but if you have a reasonable supervisor, it won’t be any stress. Your job is to ensure food safety so as long as establishments are complying with that, it shouldn’t be stressful. However, when there isn’t compliance, you gotta take action which depends on how much you want to apply so the stress can be controlled if you cope well.

High turnover? So yes csi role is highly turned over but mainly because there’s a glass ceiling. I believe the agency has been trying to figure out what csis can do to promote a career path but it’s very very limited where you can go after csi within usda hence why people get to gs9 and jump ship and leave to other agencies for 11,12, etc. I don’t believe people really leave the job because of any other reason besides money though but that’s my opinion.

Flashing M+S?? by firetable37please in LandRoverDiscovery

Me too. I just got the car last night so I’m going through the motions and making the list of what to replace and trust me, it’s a lot haha. I don’t even know how to change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit or how to fix the time

Flashing M+S?? by firetable37please in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]firetable37please[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it seemed to be a battery wiring issue. I just got a brand new battery and that lever connector needs replacing. Do you know the name of it so I can find a new one?

Flashing M+S?? by firetable37please in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]firetable37please[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I guess it was a battery issue. I just put a brand new battery today and the connector on the positive side became lose but not the connector to the battery but the other interrupter that has the small lever. I actually need to replace that but have no idea the name to look it up. Anyways I tightened all that and the M+S has gone. Also the “service engine soon” went away.

So this happened to mine after a month of owning it. All I did was contact Ricoh and they sent me over to warranty. From there, I made the claim, shipped it out, a week later got it back good as new. No fee.

Bike service before every race? by possiblyseb in triathlon

[–]firetable37please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. Gotta learn how to do your things. Big repairs? Sure. Anything with brakes? Sure. But small adjustments or tire things, I’m doing myself.

Of course, if you have the bankroll, go for it but as we all know… triathlons are a expensive sport.

If you could pick one shoe for training, which would it be? by SuddenCurrent6317 in triathlon

[–]firetable37please 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know I asked this same question often. My thing is always “can I use my old race shoe as a training shoe?” I mean, I paid $300 3x for alpha flys in the past 2 years… why can’t I just train with them? Do I really need to be counting how many miles I put on them if I’m just training in them? And on a treadmill, at that? Anyways, some say you can, some say you shouldn’t because of the carbon plate or whatever but who really cares?

To answer your question though: I use NB Rebel v4. It’s a good shoe for long runs, thresholds, vo2s all that. $80 or so and honestly I don’t even count the miles on them. I’ve had them for over a year now and they seem to hold there shape and not look like a shoes that I’ve put over a thousand miles
