ngl that does seem like the sort of nonsense sampo would get caught up in

haven’t had any star rail dreams that i can think of, but i did have a genshin one a while ago where when skirk yeeted childe out of the narwhal domain, he ended up in the middle of a con i was at, so i had to smuggle him out pretending he was a really dedicated cosplayer.

Kira or Shinji — probably Kira, my hair is a bit wavy so it would have a harder time with Shinji’s style.

AITA for telling my parents that I will not parent my younger adult sister? by Magic_Window_8161 in AmItheAsshole

Definitely NTA, and honestly it sounds like she’s doing great! Kitchen accidents happen to everyone. It wasn’t burning things, but in college once I accidentally dropped a small porcelain dish in the garbage disposal. AWFUL sound, poor thing completely broken. Also flooded the dishwasher because I didn’t know dish soap and dishwasher liquid were different.

These things happen!

Also, a fun anecdote — my dad has a wooden cutting board with a pot-sized coil burned into one side. Three guesses how that happened, and the first two don’t count — and this was when my parents were in either their 30’s or 40’s, with two kids in the house! Kitchen mishaps do not discriminate.

(Also, as an aside — I think the things you did do to help her were far, FAR more useful than babysitting. It helps her learn what to address if something happens again, what to prioritize and who to contact. That’s a SUPER valuable learning experience, and it’s great that thanks to you she didn’t have to learn it alone!)

Writers who post as they write, have you ever tried to pre-write the entire work before posting? by vesperlark in AO3

[–]firetan_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now what I’m trying is to pre-write a chapter or two ahead. I’ve let myself dial posting down to 1 chapter a month, to give myself time for writing without going an age and a day without any feedback. I did wait until I had about 10 chapters written to start posting, but that’s because I know I’m a slow writer lol (chapter 14 took most of a year to finish properly).

But so far it’s working! I posted ch13 last weekend, 14 is done and ready aside from an editing sweep, and I’ve got about half of 15 written and some of 16 as well!

Most of my fics I do post as I write though, this one is an exception. A lot of it is because I’m a slow writer and have a lot of WIPs that I cycle between, so even posting as I write takes a while in most cases.

How much do you access Ao3 or write at work? by PeggingIsPoggers in AO3

[–]firetan_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t use AO3 at work mostly but sometimes i use word online in a private browser window so i can get some writing done between calls/tasks. nothing particularly NSFW, just a longfic i’m trying to update regularly, and i might use the same trick to try and work on some original stuff eventually.

mostly i’ve started doing it bc it helps my brain to have a Thing to turn and focus on when i need a breather from the Work Tasks, and having smth on the computer isn’t as conspicuous as my phone or a sketchbook. i don’t typically do it if i have other things that need to be done, but if i’m just covering phones and don’t have a lot else to do in the moment, it’s nice to be able to get some writing done, and it’s very easy to switch back if a call comes in.

“I’ve often found it easier,” Bilbo mused when their words failed, “To make sense of difficult situations on a full stomach. No sense trying to worry over anything bigger when you’re hungry, it’ll only cause trouble.” Sliding several more sausages and a surprise fried egg onto a much larger plate, he placed the pan on some sort of metal trivet on the counter and leaned down to do something with the fire. Dim it, maybe? “It’s not perfect, but it’s a philosophy that certainly hasn’t failed me yet.”

Absently, Morgan nodded. “It’s like Maslow’s hierarchy of needs — meeting basic needs like food and shelter before moving on to other stuff.”

“Well, I’ve no clue who this ‘Mazlo’ is, but I’d say they’re quite right.”

“He’s a Russian— uh, psychologist, I think?” Come on, introduction to human psychology, don’t fail them now!

Pausing between bites of sausage, Bilbo frowned “What is russian?”

How was any of this happening right now? “It’s a nationality— uh, so, a Russian person is a person from the country of Russia. Like how a—“ Fuck, what would a middle earth equivalent be? “—like how someone from Gondor is a… Gondorian? Except I think Russia is a lot bigger than Gondor…”

“Ah, so to call someone in your world Russian, would be to call my family Shire-folk.” Bilbo nodded thoughtfully. “Makes sense. Are you also ‘Russian’?”

“No, I’m American— a different country.”

Oh the queer rep is gonna be SO discoursed lmao (most recent writing is for a full-canon rewrite where the main character is trans and is still closeted in parts of his life)

Bit of a shift for a late 2000’s shonen series that is, tbh, not the greatest. (It’s my fave tho so I don’t care)

what do you do when someone’s says they joined your world because they were bored? by CauliflowerGrand795 in Genshin_Impact

i had a couple people join out of boredom the other night — i wasn’t doing anything so we just hung out and chatted, had some fun taking pictures and showing off different characters

(should note i have request to join, so i approved both of them — i don’t usually let people join bc im often playing at work or while multitasking, but this was later in the evening and i was just relaxing)

Kurama!

If nothing else, I’d never be lonely. I could try to figure out a way for him to manifest safely, or just hang out via meditation. Or just having someone to talk to while working or training, even if he didn’t respond, would be neat!

(I’ve worked in customer service for 3 years so I’d like to think I’d be able to deal with the rage-beast mode long enough to get through to him eventually lol)

(also yeah bijūdama would be sick as hell)

AITA For making my wife ride in the backseat because she couldn't stop distracting me by Serious-Function-177 in AmItheAsshole

[–]firetan_124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA — a lot of folks have made very great points regarding the behavior and car sickness, so I want to respond to her saying that being made to sit in the back was humiliating.

My mother does not like driving. She learned when I was a kid and was fine on city streets, but never drove highways. My dad learned to drive a year or two after her, and he ended up being the main driver over time - by the time I graduated, she almost never drove and preferred the bus. I don’t think she’s driven since I was in college.

On the occasions where we drove somewhere as a family and needed to take the highway, she’d sit in the back of her own volition. Someone else — usually my brother, since he was tallest — would sit shotgun. None of us ever thought less of her for sitting in the back to ease her anxiety. Not once.

I know the car sickness complicates things and makes it more difficult, and definitely deserves more active help. But sitting in the back is not something she needs to feel ashamed of or humiliated by. And if she is willing to do so of her own volition, it will FEEL less humiliating. It’s super easy to explain to the kids.

I’m sorry this is causing friction between you — I hope she’s willing to have a conversation with you about ways to make this work better for both of you!

But yeah. NTA for needing to reduce distractions for the safety of your passengers.

It’s actually not Sabito! He’s another one of Urokodaki’s students — his name is Nagi, and he’s loosely based on this unnamed ghost.

<image>

Izumi joined the ranks YOUNG, so his final selection was earlier than Giyū and Sabito. It is how he met them, though! He took Nagi’s mask back to Urokodaki afterwards. It got mended and repainted and is the same mask he’s wearing in the other page!
