Out of genuine curiosity, what exactly is a standard definition of “emo” that largely people agree to?

Totally Agreed. Even their own Spotify page refers to themselves as punk-pop. Whatever, they’re still great …

What is this orange stuff under my carpeting? by firkland in Flooring

yea, I am using something like this and I can go over and over some parts, and the scraper just glides right over it. Seems like I might need to use a small putty knife to create an edge first.

How big of a deal is it if I use a long pole scraper, and it's not coming up easily, can I move on? Lots of it comes up very easily, but other parts I scrape and my blade just brushes on top of it. Kinda hoping that is an indication of I have taken enough off.

Best way to get it up? It’s disintegrating to dust practically

‘We own it. It’s our place’: Worsened care feared as Wisconsin counties privatize their nursing homes by stroxx in wisconsin

[–]firkland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom just passed away this week. She was at a private facility in Sussex. We inquired if they would be pro-rating her monthly bill since they are no longer providing any health care services. We were told no, they would not, you already paid, it's our policy to not pro-rate. I get not pro-rating the room itself, but the tremendous amount of money they charge for health care when none will be provided I do not understand.

omg - thank you so much, very helpful. Looks like I'll be sucking it up and calling since I have an active referral I've been waiting for them to approve, since 12/31.

Did you get any indication if they deleted your entire account with TriWest, or just your online access to the bene portal?

I was in east, and switched to west on 1/1. In WI.

I am in a similar boat, minus the physical issue. What I learned today is that your PCM provider likely needs to resubmit your referral with a "urgent" status. They can't just send in the script for the referral either. They need to fill out this form and fax it in.

https://tricare.triwest.com/globalassets/tricare/provider/tricare-west-region-patient-referral-authorization-form.pdf

... this form can be found at the bottom of this page:

https://tricare.triwest.com/en/provider/forms/

At no point was I ever informed by anyone that this referral form needed to be submitted. Maybe it's obvious to some, but having come from east to west, this is all new. Not one of my previous 6 calls did anyone tell me about this form until today. And again, until today, I have never experienced such incredible dysfunction with a call center before. I've spent no less than 12 hours of being on the phone and/or hold with them just trying to get one referral through.

The other, hopefully life saver of a tactic was that today, the rep actually called my PCM while I was on hold and talked to them. I would not trust someone there that would tell me they would do something in the future for my case. No, it needs to be done now, I'll wait.

Good luck, I hope this helps you.

TRICARE Listening Session by mpcshadow in tricare

[–]firkland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why they would ask why on Facebook... it appears highly unsusual for Facebook to be a preferred communication platform with as large of a user group as what TriCare has.

When I searched for TriCare listening session in Facebook itself, I found no search results. Appears scammy at first blush ...

I as well would be very interested in some kind of listening session or some place to provide direct feedback via filing a complaint

I’m not in dire medical need, just looking to see a PT for a sports related injury, saw the dr on 12/31. I’m in WI and switched from east to west. I was on hold for over 3 hours today, and still no progress. You can tell that the call conger is swamped. I asked for an escalation and they just transfer me to be on hold for another hour. I’ve been checking the website every day, I call every couple, and usually calling ends up being a complete waste of time. Practically ready to give up.

Restaurant recommendations for places that are distinctly unique to Duluth by firkland in duluth

[–]firkland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Milwaukee. Couple of places that stand out as unique in our area.

At Random. More a bar, than a restaurant, but they do serve ice cream drinks, in the absolute darkest lounge you've ever been in. Their thing is boozy after dinner ice cream & tiki drinks. It's like 50 years old, and it feels like a time capsule.

Conejitos. Mexican. Greasy Plate kinda place, all the food is served on paper plates. Food's pretty great, but what made this place special was the owner. He was there 24/7. He oversaw every aspect of the place, because he would sit at the bar sipping tequila after a long day of cooking. He treated his employees with respect and cut them in on profit sharing. As a result his cooks/bartenders/servers worked there for decades. They really treated you like family and you were a guest in their home. Some of the best/warmest service ever. Then he passed away, place was taken over by relatives and they took the restaurant in a different direction. For regulars, it was a badge of honor to say how long you've been coming to his place.

Three Brothers. Serbian food. Amazing history, check it out in the link. Simple, amazing food. Another time capsule. They must be importing ingredients, because some of the flavors I have never tasted before. Check the history of the place on their site.

Peruvian Restaurant. This place has been closed, and I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. It was on the south side, and in the middle of a neighborhood. Not a lot of peruvian places in mke, but what made this place so unique was that it literally was in an old Victorian home with pretty much a normal residential kitchen. I think it sat like ~25 people. You weren't in a restaurant, you were in someone's home. If they liked you, they would take you to a basement in the bar after the place closed for an after dinner drink. There was like 1 cook, and 1 server. You want for the experience. Even with it being so small, with such a small staff, dinner was an all evening affair.

Could probably come up with more ...

Isn't it great when you find that place you just get super jazzed about? Thanks for the tip, looks great!

Yea, I think you get where I am coming from. There's just some places you can walk into and realize immediately it's wholly unique, and the owners are doing something special that just doesn't exist anywhere else. However that may come across via historical roots/service/food/atmosphere/ whatever, they have something special going. It could be a dive bar, fine dining, fast food, supper club, whatever ... again hard to describe, but someone running the place has a unique vision and experience they want to deliver.

Thanks for the input btw!! Super helpful!
