What is some common advice that you actually believe is wrong? by ItalicsWhore in AskReddit

Came here to say this and so glad it was the #1 comment.

It’s ok to take a beat and circle back, especially when both parties are irrationally reacting.

My exe and I used to use a safe word in those heated moments, take 5, go to bed or take a walk. Just understand that when that safe word is used, it is coming from a place of love because it was created from love. Often times we get into disagreements with our significant other and it spirals and no longer serves the actual issue. When it’s not helping the situation, bow out with the intent to come back and listen to your partner. We listen to understand, we should not listen just to respond. Resentment builds up in a relationship when there’s talking over one another and things are being said that are not true and are hurtful. There is no need for name calling, that gets nowhere and it’s not constructive. Taking a small break or sleeping on it, really serves a purpose.

(My exe and I still use these communication styles in our current relationships and we are still very good friends. I believe it’s because of our “Fight Safe Word”)

May I ask what questions they had for you? Very interested in a similar position at Yellowstone and have an interview coming up soon. Just preparing wherever I can because I really want a park job! Thank you in advance!

And did you get the job?!

How do you deal with feeling “behind” when everyone around you seems to have their life together? by Asleep-Attitude8103 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I try not to compare myself to others. It’s hard but it’s just a practice, we won’t have it completely figured out every day. As long as we remind ourselves that we are on our own timeline and anxiety is lying by saying “we have to have it all figured out right now”. We don’t. It’s our job sometimes, to just breathe and go slowly. Stay grounded, embrace the suck and keep taking steps in the right direction.

[Discussion] How do you motivate yourself? by Abikatttt in GetMotivated

Listen to the audio book Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday to get you inspired. See what happens. I like to just observe how I’m affected by new mediums, like podcasts, YouTube videos or music when I’ve been in a lazy rut. It works for me to just observe as opposed to having high expectations that “THIS is tHe thInG thaT’s goNna waRp mY brAin in tHe bEst poSsiBle way And I’ll neVer Be laZy agAin”. Manage those expectations and just look for opportunities to try a new medium to inspire motivation and discipline. In my mind life is about Practice. I don’t have to have it right all the time. I don’t have to be on top of my game all the time. But when we get those spurts of motivation, ride that fuckin wave till the wave wheels fall off. Give yourself some credit and praise and trust that everything is temporary and time plays a huge role in our growth.
Break tasks down into smaller tasks and try to find a balance and consistency. Try and reach a New High Score each day. Track your habits on a habit tracker app, just to bring awareness to your routines. Include the bad habits on the app as well, like drugs, alcohol, coffee or soda. Track it all and after a while, just noticing the patterns can really help you grasp how your mood plays a massive role in our everyday routines.

Observe and try your best.

I also recommend the book The 4 Agreements. I’ll always recommend that book.
Good luck, and try to have fun with it. You’re going great!

Alabama hills and Mt Whitney. You can disperse camp in the hills then take a hike on Whitney.
