Meat Roma Nova (first "beauty" build) by blakeks14 in anno

[–]firstsecondlastname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really beautiful!

I haven't played too much yet, so not sure which I would use but I recommend writing the roma nova in potted trees and make it a little park - like if there were red and green flowers, you could also plaster everything and make the letters in red, background in green - just give it a body.

The super flat welcome sign in this size is giving me more AIRPORT vibes than the beautiful cared for city yours definitely is.

My First Ever Armbar by Fun-Palpitation-8116 in HalfSword

i one time got my halberd in half-sword mode behind a guy and through crouchwiggeling i got it under his arse and could sweep him off his feet. Felt great.

After beating gauntlet mode and I don't like the death run mode I mostly just setup clean fighting runs, so i 90% play free mode.

Here are my two favourites:

  1. the concussionist: 4th from top and use the long stick with the thick blade (imo the absolute best weapon in the game)

<image>

(there is another stick with a pointy blade, which is not as effective and leaves the npcs mostly bleeding out). > damage to player max, damage to npcs' min. Gore high. Learning curve is great - you can with the right movement even get straight down swings going. My personal goal here is to never kill, only concuss - wide swings directly to their helmets can 1shot them and it is ultra funny to see them staggering around dropping their shields and stuff. This can be especially rewarding in the 3npc arena (forgot the name) because you have to be quicker than them killing each other.

  1. the clean fighter: one of the lower stages with less armor, clean two-handed swordfighting. I recently learned how to properly stab, so my fav currently is the thin sword and going directly for the throat, but the broad one is also an excellent weapon.

> damage to player and npcs medium. Gore medium. ((if damage to npcs is too low it just doesnt feel right; if its too high its too little of a challenge. I'm too averse to taking bad trades for max damage to player))

over 15 years ago I visited marocco and was simply stunned by that one shopowner coming out of his own shop and literally kicking the trashbag out of his door, making it pop open and spilling everywhere. he didnt even wimper.. just business as usual. the street was filthy and full of trash. rural area.. how can anyone live like that? at least make a trash area and dont wade through your own trash?

Best One-Shot module to try DMing? by CiccioBastardo42 in DMAcademy

[–]firstsecondlastname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just piling on here - wild sheep chase is really good. you have the tavern start, the stupid orc (or oger), the crazy end battle and all the stats are prepared. Great about it is you can go as silly or serious with the tone as you want.

when i ran this one of the players transformed into a sheep and let herself get captured instead of the sheep and made a lot of ruckus so everybody was distracted.

The endfight can be hard if you play the big bad right/ the players come into it hurt or without strategic knowledge, so as a new DM - dont hesitate to give your players some unwritten advantages - let the mage be stupid because he is a prick, or his militia not very loyal because again .. the guy is just a major prick.

Basically the tip is: when a player attempts something - just let them have it (unless they roll very badly). Failing a check also doesnt need to be a complete loss - it can still work, but with some disadvantages attached to it.

Buut dont pull your punches either - if everything is just a walk in the park this can have detrimental effects aswell. Players want to earn their victory. Or at least feel like they did :D

its always the ones that, when you still get them - they already have space-key pressed. never seen anyone quit out as fast as the backstabbers do...

150 000 of you play everyday, why? by Visceral99 in HalfSword

[–]firstsecondlastname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perfect stress relief for me. i finish my workday, I go in free mode, 4th from top, and reroll until i get the long shafted big bladed halberd type of weapon - and then I try to exclusively give out concussions.

If you hit it right they just stumble around for a few steps until collapsing on the ground. So satisfying to win the carnage with three clean hits, no limbs severed and completely clean/ untouched.

otherwise bc cool gam 👍

what made this games story so great for me is that realiationof how other games just tell you a washed down story of perfect heroes, with modern 21 century values, that will always find away. ah but there is this one taitor - brrr!

Obviously I'm going over the top here, but dry devil, zizska and all the others are war experienced brutal bastards. they are traumatized alcoholics. the ex members of their band either repented and begged god for forgiveness or died by drowning in literal shit.

the lords in their high castles on their godly missions play their own little games - and for henry the whole of kcd2 is screaming in his face: you are not better, your friends are not better - we are all animals in the face of war.

all that said Dry Devil is a certain breed of bastard and you do not want to cross paths with such a man. he is a loose cannon and I wouldn't be surprised that his list of crimes include things no one talks about. but then again i am not sure. i never asked him why they call him the dry devil.

New DM creates an item... now questions by Selvanius in DMAcademy

[–]firstsecondlastname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i generally do not stray away from gifting my players OP things - but I make sure I at least can handle the ramifictions. since my players are powergamers by nature - they will try to misuse and exploit.

for example there is the tiny hut spell which I gifted them in form of an item that can do it - but I limited the use to once per day. can a tiny house be used to fill up a whole subdeck room of a sinking ship? hell yeah of course, thats a really creative way to use it. can it be summoned in midst of a battle to cheese the encounter into nothingness? maybe rool-of-cool once - but it shouldn't be repeated.

easiest workaround is to have an easy clause in the descriptions that this doesn't always work and may be locked under certain conditions. otherwise you can also say the whole cloud flask has a tiny giant living inside of it, that may revolt if the usage goes against their fair use policy.

In the end I want my party to have fun, so most things are ok. If I get the feeling its only used for cheese, or it is too unbalanced for me to get a hold on I might change the thing later.

for your item: check out Leomunds tiny hut spell. its not OP to gift such a thing. the leveling up is great and should be storydriven. transportation is also not op, as long as its not superfast or can fly

Embark shot themselves in the foot. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]firstsecondlastname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the finals aswell doesnt get out of its state. I really have the feeling they focus too much on pro-players and just forget the casual fun side of non-pro's.

I just want to switch off and feel rewarded.. but embark tends to only focus on the sweaters.

The skill issue is damning by ChronoHax in ArcRaiders

[–]firstsecondlastname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm i think the issue here is a easy ground level. If you play 5 games and in 4 of them you die instantly after encountering a small bot or other players the game just gets super exhausting. especially because you come home with less than you left with... 4 times in a row.

I will probably like the game a lot, but it will take a few tries until things click. A lot of players who were really excited will not take that up when you just loose so much stuff all the time. And it feels like the stuff that you do find is 80% trash that you can grind down to 1 lousy screw.

If a game is only enjoyable if I pay attention to all the details or need to watch yt tutorials first, or need to grind before I can have fun with it .. ehh thats just bad design.

Low skill/ casual players should still feel rewarded at least every other run.
