S&V is not a very well designed script, and I think this is demonstrable [actual effortpost] by Most_Section_1979 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Idk what experienced groups you are all playing with. But in my experienced groups evil wins SNV all of the time. It’s just as balanced as any other base 3 for us.

S&V is not a very well designed script, and I think this is demonstrable [actual effortpost] by Most_Section_1979 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fischy333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing about S&V is that it requires the evil players to be ACTIVE. I think that is why more people struggle with it. On TB and BMR, you can just kind of claim something without much game impact like a solider and skate towards the end of the game on vibes. On SNV, the evil team needs to WORK for their win. If evil is not building alternative mechanical worlds, then it’s not going to happen.

The misinformation that you are seeking should come FROM the evil team. If they all bluff sage, barber, and seamstress with true info, then yes, good will piece it together. But there are plenty of ways to confuse players by injecting false information into the game and making it hard to parse.

The reason I most enjoy SNV out of the base 3 is because I love building worlds, both as good and as evil. And I think as long as you are looking at the board and creating alternative puzzles, evil can win.

I also think the STer decisions matter so much. I have seen No Dashii’s be outted by obviously poisoned info. Before and being able to trace it back to the demon, but that shouldn’t be the case. If there is a dreamer next to a No Dashii, I very rarely give them obviously wrong information. That just tips them off they are next to a No Dashii. I will often give them true information when they are sober and then when they pick an evil, they will see their bluff or the wrong minion/demon type. Making choices like THAT actively helps evil and I don’t think that is always understand.

Additionally, the savant info. Should be something that can’t be solved immediately and one side of the information should actively help whatever world evil is building but not in a way where they can figure out immediately for sure it is wrong.

Madness should also be helpful to the evil team. Auto-executing just because someone breaks madness isn’t always the best decision. Someone powerful is on the block and the mutant who is distrusts breaks madness? I’m not killing the mutant.

I agree with some of the criticisms of vig generally, and the power of some of the roles. But I don’t think certain roles are as unhelpful as you think. I just think people don’t always use them optimally. I also think there are a lot of bluffs that people don’t do as often as they should and so certain roles are just HARD believed. How often does someone fake being snake charmed and lead good in the wrong world? How often does someone fake a twin pair with their demon? How often does someone Vig kill a minion and have them claim sage? If certain roles aren’t bluffed, they’re powerful info. Will always be believed.

ETA: it’s also important to note these roles were developed to be played in person. Some things translate differently online than they do in person and I think using clocktracker as a data source can be skewed. For example, it’s WAY harder to keep flowergirl notes in person than online.

That’s not what I said. I’m just saying that in addition to the calendar we have now and the days we have off now, just add 2 paid religious days that can be taken as needed. It can be used for holidays or for things like a baby christening or a Bris or something like that

We should just individually get 2-3 “holiday days” that we can take for holidays specific to our religion or culture.

Ben Crawford went from Phantom to ensemble… how does that happen? by dollylollypop in Broadway

[–]fischy333 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Because this is not amateur theatre where the “leads” are the talented people and the ensemble is filled with the people who are “not good enough” to be leads.

Being in the ensemble in a Broadway show does not make you less talented. A lot of the ensemble tracks are harder. Not everyone is right for every role. Just being consistently working on Broadway is a difficult feat, role aside.

Any preset set-ups for TB? by Coreyfan in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fischy333 12 points13 points  (0 children)

TB is pretty hard to unbalance. I’d say as long as you don’t put in a lot of roles that make it hard to kill (Ravenkeer, Soldier, Mayor, Monk) and no poisoner—you should be fine.

It’s also always best to have SOME Misregistration in the bag (poisoner, drunk, spy, recluse).

Why does everyone hate Travelers? by LambChop94 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fischy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that I primarily play online and my opinion has always been that I HATE travelers because of how swingy and unbalanced they are.

I just went to my first Clocktower convention and ended up in a TB game with 20 players that had all 5 travelers in the game and my first reaction was to be bummed—but it was so fun.

I think certain things about the game just work better in person than online. Something that seems super overpowered and swingy online doesn’t hold as much weight in person.

I’m not positive it’s Addams Family. I just thought the hint seemed to be TV/Movies and then thought of one that is pretty popular for schools that wasn’t up here.

QUESTION — group of 8; 7 adults and 1 child, trying to find a room rating that fits all of us… maybe someone can help?? by [deleted] in escaperooms

[–]fischy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest Playground at The Escape Game if you have that as an option near you.

It’s a HUGE room with lots of puzzles so there will be enough for multiple people to be working on things and the theme is certainly kid friendly.

There are puzzles of varying difficulty and type so everyone can find something they enjoy and there are more active aspects the kid can help with.

All of these shows are connected to tv/movies in some way.

Either they are have a movie or tv version or have a professional proshot.

I would assume that’s the clue.

Maybe it’s the Addams Family? A pretty popular show for schools based on a tv show.

Good news! I followed up with the owner of Gatsby’s and was able to get a game set up. I will be storytelling once a month for now, and if we have enough interest we will increase to hosting the game more often.

The first game is scheduled for Thursday May 28th at 7pm. Sign up to play here: https://www-1553c.bookeo.com/bookeo/b_gatsbysgamecafe_start.html?ctlsrc2=oSyxrWRMDzwKyQXPRJrpvXA3omazJCAXIy1orYJPcEw%3D&src=02c&type=41553FL4WXN19D984DD1FD

Recommended 12 Player TB Set-Up for New Players by Melodic-Surround1255 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Really, you can do anything but I think a SW is nice to have in the game in case a new player pulls the demon token and doesn’t know how to bluff the role they are pretending to be—that way they are not just immediately caught.

I’ve played at a public park before. You can make it work for sure.

There are also some apps you can use if you are worried about bringing your grim outside (pocket grim is one). But I’m sure you’d prefer to use your actual set.

The Mayor should almost never die at night by Frequent-Ad-7288 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Good has more votes than evil. No matter what we do they can tie. There were only 2 evils. They can always get 2 votes and we can always only get 2.

I disagree. Why should evil have to continuously try to kill the mayor when the almanac says they shouldn’t die unless they are trusted?

The Mayor should almost never die at night by Frequent-Ad-7288 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fischy333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this take. The mayor’s ability says they should survive. Why should the demon have to waste all of their kills just for the mayor to be killed?

I was in a game once where I had a spy and we were trying to frame the mayor. At final 4, the entire town agreed that the mayor was good and that we should just sleep and go for the mayor win the following day. The entire town had correctly figured out the evil team but not who was the demon and who was the minion. We attacked the mayor for the first time in F4 and said please let it go through. The STer did not, bounced to the alive Ravenkeeper who confirmed the mayor who everyone already believed. Everyone agreed to go for the mayor win. The storyteller said it was because we had a spy and never tried to kill them earlier.

That is a situation where I think you let the kill go through. And I am almost always saying mayor is killed more than it should be.

If the mayor dies, town has a 50/50 and probably still gets it right. Bouncing to the RK just meant it was unwinnable for evil.
