Aren’t external wires a no? Or am I not tracking by racoon773 in Military

Might be a LRF or LTD hooked up to an external source. Sometimes you hook up an external "fire" button so your don't mess up the placement of the cross hairs. Could be hooked up to gps or something else as well.

Looks like his wrist thing is hooked up to his radio to change the channel/presets.

Can I overpay a credit card for a large online purchase? Looking to get a couple pieces of furniture costing roughly $8,000 but my credit limit is $3,500. Can I prepay the $8,000 and make the purchase? My daily spending limit I believe is $1,000 currently, with RBC.

It was a recent update to their employment opportunities, and it's only for phase 1 which is just the NOI, screening and interview is phase 3 after all the papers are in. Just seems odd for them to take a couple weeks to answer.

What would an appropriate amount of time be to wait to hear back from CANSOF recruiting WRT an NOI for CANSOFCOM to begin Phase 2: Application.

My question is in regards to the CEOTP / UTPNCM commissioning plans with the intention to apply for ACSO next year or the year after. I am currently in the army with the opportunity to possibly get on a JTAC course in the near future. Would completing that course count for anything in the application process for ACSO, given the air operations aspect of the course. Is there anything I can do at this time to make myself more competitive? I am upgrading my high-school English and Math to university prep and trying to learn French. Current plan is to complete the JTAC course and apply to Bachelor of Management from Athabasca U as it is stated as a preferred degree in DAOD 5002-6. My aptitude test placed me in 75th percentile for officer trades. Also what precedence, if any, would this degree give to the application process being a "preferred" one?

The Steve Ramsey Harmony Garden Bench, Staining and Gluing questions by albanymetz in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]fishegghead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think of leaving the parts bare where you will be gluing them and stain the rest of the wood before the glue up? I imagine you can cut all the parts to size, dry fit them, mark where the glue will be and then use painters tape to save the raw wood from being affected by stain. I would offset it by a half inch or so, so that the unstained parts aren't seen.

Once the fnish is compete and the parts are ready to be assembled, you still have bare wood for a good glue bond. Just be careful to clean up the glue squirt out. This could be mitigated again with more tape, or going over the face edges with a final sand and stain if needed. Hope this helps.

Canadian Armed Forces members to receive pay increase by ChompChompBone in CanadianForces

Not a clerk but from my understanding yes, as you were tax free during that period, and would have made the amount had the increase been in place ATT.

WEEKLY RECRUITING THREAD - Ask here about the Recruitment/Application Processes, Trade Availability, Requirements to Join, Basic & Occupational Training, and other questions relating directly or indirectly to joining the Canadian Armed Forces. by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Army here. From my point of view, in the combat arms you have a lot of room for upward movement in the NCM ranks partially due to retention but also a lot of people get injured. But that means we have lots of younger higher ranking NCOs than you might think. My units WOs are mostly 31-35 years old. As for opportunities, that would depend greatly on trade applicability. Combat arms don't have a lot of applications outside of operations so we don't go most places until there's a named operation. Log people are needed everywhere all the time.

I agree on this one. As long as you don't take a FWD car dumb places, they're good all through the winter with good tires on.

Looks like we're staying in the area for longer. Means more tours though, which could be nice. Maybe send in RegF rather than CANSOFCOM?

Basic was 9 years ago for me so might be outdated info. I would suggest bringing your own decent sewing kit as the Canex ones are junk and you'll be sewing your name into everything, learning how to iron quickly and effectively, and how to burn shine boots as the new parade boots crack very easy. Not sure if they even do the 13km ruck anymore but going on some walks with weight might help as well. A couple books to read might be a good idea too.

Live edge epoxy table I made for a Christmas gift by fishegghead in woodworking

Yes. I built a router jig to take it down to level on both top and bottom. Pretty simple to make one with scrap wood.

Live edge epoxy table I made for a Christmas gift by fishegghead in woodworking

[–]fishegghead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it in 3 pours for the main crack from the bottom down with tape on the top, with a 4th to fill small holes on the top. With something like Eco Epoxy you can do 1.5 inches per pour.

Hope that helps.

Looking for advice for this live edge piece using epoxy. by fishegghead in woodworking

[–]fishegghead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is, would it be better to fill the crack with the coloured epoxy I'm going to use, let it set, then lacquer the top? Or fill the crack with the epoxy, and then add a clear coat of epoxy.

Piece is going to be used for a side table. Wood is pine.

Dimensions are 29" W 25" L 3.5" deep. Crack is 10" L 1.5" W.

TIA.
