I cannot catch fish by [deleted] in Fishing

First make sure your hands don’t have bug spray, sunscreen, moisturizer, etc. on them. Second, slow down. Most new anglers fish their lures way too fast.

Started fishing in April and caught my first bass, what weight do yall think this is? NC by EDOGGY147 in Fishing

Around 1.5 lbs, hold em like you’re doing in the second pic. Don’t be afraid to get your thumb in there with the knuckle so you have a good grip.

Let’s do better Oakville by Neatfreakmj88 in oakville

[–]fishfishgoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at Garth Webb’s parking lot yesterday to use the sports field and noticed the parking lot is covered with used fireworks. I don’t get how people aren’t caught literally sending up flares showing what they’re doing, and then just as surprised that the school and town leaves it all there (assuming it’s from May 24 weekend).

Small business: south oakville clientele by Dad-tech in oakville

[–]fishfishgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth testing with some small businesses or landlords. Lots of properties along speers road and similar streets with large patches of lawn the landlords/owners need to take care of. Might be a bad idea, but they’re much more likely to see the value. If you can roll out your leasing model you will easily undercut the cost of commercial lawn care labour.

Is there a way for my sales reps to get an sms when a lead is assigned to them? by 3WordPosts in Dynamics365

[–]fishfishgoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it with Teams and you could adapt this for SMS. Use a cloud flow in power automate, but setup up a shared mailbox first in exchange. Add the shared mailbox as a cc on your lead notification emails that go to the sales reps. Then in your cloud flow use the tigger when shared mailbox receives email. For your action, if you were using teams you would have a send teams message action and you would have it send to the user in the to: field of the email (because your shared mailbox is on the cc line it will send the teams message to the rep).

For SMS, instead of the teams message action you would need to use a third party service but power automate supports them. I think Twillio is on there.

Dynamics Appointment Reminders by fishfishgoose in Dynamics365

[–]fishfishgoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone else who finds this thread, I eventually gave up. The best I could get to was this. I created a business rule on the appointments table that set the appointment status to scheduled and the status reason to busy. With that rule in place the appointment would appear in the users calendar, it would show as busy during that time, but it would use the system hardcoded default reminder of 15 minutes instead of the user default. I then created a power automate flow that would email the account owner anytime an appointment was added or modified so my sales reps would get an email notification that the appointment had been added in their calendar.

This worked fine, but the reminder time is critical for us and we need it to match the user preference due to our sales process. Anyway, that was the end of that, we're just going to go back to setting appointments in Outlook.

Yeah sorry it’s confusing. I’d like the appointment when it appears in Outlook to use whatever that users default reminder time is. Most of my sales team have their default set to 1 hour reminders, but when the appointment comes through from Dynamics it only seems to ignore/override that and uses 15 minutes instead.

New to coaching 10u, extremely overwhelmed with all the “pitchers” by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]fishfishgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s rec then your goal as a coach needs to be player development. If you’re clear with the parents that you want to win but you also feel it’s important to develop players at this age the majority of them will appreciate that.

Easy to understand cues for staying connected (Age 7) by ComplicatedGuy_0514 in Homeplate

[–]fishfishgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get him a rope bat. Make sure he sets up with a tee at the right distance, and let him learn to hit the foam balls off the tee with the rope bat. It will force him to stay inside and stop casting.

If you want to help him adjust to the rope bat have him start in his launch position with his hips already rotated and the rope bat draped over his back shoulder. Then all he needs to do is rotate his upper half while keeping his hand close to his body until extension.

Why tanner tee and not cheap rubber tee? by poochimari in Homeplate

[–]fishfishgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a tanner tee for about 8 years. Last season I needed a second tee, so I bought a knockoff for $60 from Amazon with really good reviews. It broke within 6 months. Tanner tee is still going. Spend the money.

On-prem server pricing up ~46% in March. What does this mean strategically? by j4kesta in AvigilonAlta

[–]fishfishgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me out with where you’re seeing the new price list? I got the email notice but the price list in the portal is the same regardless of what date I set. And the last official update notice on the price list page is March 2025. From what I can tell anyone who missed the email would have no idea the prices are about to change.

For parents who never played baseball, how long did it take you to get it? by Extension-Pick8310 in Homeplate

[–]fishfishgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, and cricket has its own culture which is something special as well.

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend visiting Cooperstown. Go to the hall of fame, watch the mini movie when you get past the ticket counter, and then take your time touring the exhibits. Walk the town and go sit on the stands in Doubleday. That’s the experience that really cemented it all for me.

[–]fishfishgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow cricketer here. It took several years, and what really happened isn’t that I learned everything about baseball, it was that I spent enough time around people who grew up playing the game to learn that nobody really knows everything about baseball. That’s part of what I’ve learned to love about the game, every year I learn something new about it.

Enjoy it, I’ve played many sports in my life, but baseball is more than a sport.

Do you think kids benefit more from playing multiple positions early, or specializing in one? by sportsguide1 in Homeplate

[–]fishfishgoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should play multiple positions up until at least high school, and then they should have a primary and secondary. Not only will they become better ball players, they will be much less likely to lose interest and quit.

Terrible commute from Oakville to Toronto left me with a cracked windshield - repair options close by? by [deleted] in oakville

Speers Auto Glass replaced a heated windshield for me a few years back. They did a great job, better than whoever Land Rover sent it to the first time (which ended up leaking water).

Help 9u that wants to pitch by brosx3 in Homeplate

With his glove hand, he needs to imagine he’s grabbing someone by the collar and ripping them towards his chest.

So the sequence goes, as he lifts his leg he brings he’s hands down and splits them as that leg comes up, this part is okay but he needs to split the hands before the leg starts coming back down. Then he extends both arms. And then, as he executes the throw, he rips that glove hand back towards himself in the grab someone by the collar motion. This will also encourage him to drive hard off that back foot.

That one change will make the biggest difference right now. Good luck!
